Installed the stacks as per Oasis's directions. First, a little more $$$ than anticipated. Secondly, no-one to spread 4" pipe. Used flex connectors instead.

Love that look, but without any muffler or resonator, it's LOUD!

Anyone add just the resonator back? Does it quiet down much?

Appreciate anyone's feedback.

I'm not sure about the resonator, I left my cat on mine with a reg. cab it doesnt seem too loud. If the resonator doesnt hurt performance, I would try it and see how you like it. I thought about taking my cat off, but I think it would get too loud then also.

I am not certain why, but I do not have a catalytic converter. Being a heavier class maybe 11000 lb gvwr?

Problem with just adding is I am using stock 3" downpipe, and will have to cut it to see how much it helps.

Are there any decently priced mufflers that quiet it down, at least at idle.

I think the neighbors will "vote me off the island" shortly.

Cats were only on the 12 Valves. 24 Valves had the resonators. A walker or allied muffler would quiet it down some with very little back pressure. Do a search on mufflers,tons of good info. A resonator might help,but it will still be fairly noisy. You may be able to find someone around here who has a leftover resonator that you could clamp on and try first to see if it makes enough difference.

ctdodgeram;

After I installed 5" stacks on my truck, it too was way too loud! I had 4" from the turbo to the 5" adapter, therefore, I swapped in a Walker 4" flow-through truck muffler. It quieted it down untill you get on it, then it lets ya know ya got stacks! In fact, I believe these Mufflers (there are two that are similar, one is a little shorter and fatter than the other) make the trucks sound like a big-rig.

try this first

I have the Oasis-3 stacks too :D and I love them, I have limited clearence with my garage so I could only come up 27" from the bed rail to the tip of the stacks, I first had the outlet pointed on a 45 degree, half out the back and half out the side, after I pulled my 5er and thought about thier orentation I opted to point them out the side, I did notice that they quieted down somewhat , oh I also have the Magnaflow muffler and I wouldent be without it :eek: :eek: :eek: ... ... ... ..... did I tell you that I love my stacks... ... ... . Kevin

Be advised the resognator is 3. 5 in and 4 out ?:confused:

I too have the oasis-3 setup. I have had no muffler since i bought the truck. The stacks made the stock straight pipe exhaust seem quiet!:cool: I have been loving the last 7000 miles of thunder from the stacks. But my neighbors are going to kill me!, and friends and family resist riding in my truck. So i have come up with the perfect solution. The theory is very much like a 2 stroke dirt bike muffler, simply a perforated tube surounded by fiberglass packing. I rolled up pices of chicken wire into a tube about 3. 5'' diameter and 10-12 inches long. then wraped them with fiberglass insulation until i can just barely fit them into the top of the stacks. Once down inside they still allow the exhaust to flow through the center without excessive restrictions... ie. two 3. 5'' holes. This makes the truck much quieter than the stock exhaust without the muffler. Wow, i can hear the turbo again! I havent perfected a good way to secure the make shift muffler in the stacks quite yet. I have had one work its way up the stack a little. I like this setup because sometimes i like being loud (tractor pull) and sometimes quiet( Starting my truck at 1 AM with neighbors window 20 feet away from the stack!) I will try to post a pic when i get time.

I stacked mine and straight all the way, love every minute of it. My nieghbors think otherwise. Since the stacks point directly at thier window:D
