Anyone know who sells these sweet 4" stacks Im seeing people mount through their beds? They look sweet and sound even better!

what do the 24v's sound like stacked out i havent heard one yet. does it sound like 18 wheeler. can you hear the turbo wistling when just idling. i would love to hear one. i would love to hear one where all you can hear is the turbo and not the roar type sound. is this possible?

Most people I know go to a local big-rig parts counter and order sections. You can get bends, straights, and tips. Not sure if they will have the right part for the down pipe, but if not you can get one from one of the many dealers you see mentioned on this site.

Hehe

They sure have alot of parts at that website, but there is certainly no chance of me being able to do this myself. I have no clue where to even begin.

The job is easy and fun my friend, you cant have any fun if your scared

cheers, Kevin

Ill give it a try but...

I ll give it a try but Im not understanding how it all goes together. From the downpipe goes the Y Pipe? I was also under the impression that there was 2 cuts to be made in the bed, but from some pictures Ive seen, it looks like its 1 pipe that splits into 2 once it gets through the bed? If anyone has some detailed instructions how it actually foes together Id appreciate it! Thanks.

There are two main options as far as the routing of the plumbing of the stacks. 1- put the y-pipe and elbows inside the bed. This way is much easier and you won't have to deal with the tight clearance between the bed and fuel tank. 2- mount the y-pipe and elbows under the bed. This way is more difficult but you'll have less pipes inside the bed.

I did my stacks using the former method and it only took me about 3 hours for the whole job, start to finish. You can see it here: (I know it's a 1st gen, but you get the idea :D ) https://www.turbodieselregister.com/user_gallery/displaygallery.php?userid=13886

And my parts list is in this thread:

Also check out Oasis-3's galleries. He's got some great lookin stacks, a parts list, and nice pictures of the plumbing. See it here: http://groups.msn.com/oasis320015/shoebox.msnw

One final note..... If you use 5" stacks, you can get really nice mounting brackets that are made for Peterbilt and Kenworth.

Cheers,

Sean

Nice Pics

Thats a nice job. So is oasis'. OK Im on a mission now ot do this. You guys did'nt have to weld anything? Ill use Oasis' parts list since we have basically the same set up. What did you use to cut the hole in the bed? Thanks for the help.

-Chris

NO WELDING Oo. Oo.

I used a 4 1/2" hole saw to make the hole in the bed. I've heard that others have done the same.

Windows Down

CATCRACKER a 24 valve with straight pipe and 5" stacks :D

The only time you need the side windows is when you park it or the snow is blowing in :D Oo. :D

cD'amato I sent you an E-mail.

Good Luck

Cliff

They sound awesome, some rumble, lots of whistle in enclosed spaces. :D Mine is slightly different, mine y's in the bed, but the pipe across the truck is 4" square tubing (looks cleaner I think)

Love driving w/ the windows down wish I could do it more:D

I used oasis-3's parts list to build my stacks about 6 months ago. I absolutly love them. Now that i just put on the hx-40, I now have a true 4'' exhaust all of the way from the turbo outlet to the twin 5'' stacks with no mufflers in between!;) I must get 4-5 guys a week asking all sorts of questions about them. Go for it! My only complaint... ... ... I have trouble hearing that sweet sound of the HX-40 over the awsome sound of the stacks comeing in each window in stereo:D :D
