Several years ago, I rolled my standard cab 12 valve 3500 4x4 (see pic below). Since then, I've gotten a rust free extended cab, the blue interior parts needed, and an extended cab frame. I'm getting things in place (finally!) to get the job done (the truck is still in 1 piece) and my wife said to me the other day "I liked the standard cab, it looks more like a Tonka truck". I was planning to build it into an extended cab to gain the ability to carry more people and have our clothes and gear be reasonably warm when I get up north pulling the sleds.

Now I'm having second thoughts, it did look cool. Should I sell the extended cab and frame and replace standard cab (probably a little faster and easier but then I have to deal with selling the cab and frame) or continue with my plan to get the extended cab frame blasted and painted and then swap the drivetrain over the to the new frame?

One more consideration: rust free cabs are hard to find in this part of the country but there is an expensive standard cab not too far away...
