At times I get a loud click when I try to start up. sometimes once and then it starts, sometimes 4 or 5 times and then it starts.
Does it cold or warm. Any Ideas. You may email me direct if you wish.

I wish I knew for sure that yours might have the same system. But here it goes anyway.
The safety switch on my clutch quit along time ago, 'bout 4 years, with the same symptoms. Pump the pedal and hope she catches. #ad

The replacement was not cheap, but not that hard to replace. For the life of me, can't remember the cost (didn't keep that reciept #ad
)around $100 Cdn.
Hope this helps

Ray I have a 95 also and solenoid on starter was worn giving me the same symptoms as you describe. I overhaul the solenoid and everything is OK now.
Parts are available $10. 00 cdn from electrical repair shops but not from dealer they only supply complete starter/solenoid assemblies.

Ray, Mello is right. My starter was doing the same thing. Rebuild the soleniod (simple), or get a rebuilt starter. I could be your neutral safety switch, but this is a common problem with the starters. The only solenoid rebuid kit I know of is from the address below.

Here is the address :

Ray should be easy to by pass clutch switch to see if it is bad. I think service manual has instruction how to do this.
As I recall this switch is ground to starter relay when clutch pedal is pushed to floor.
I check batery, starter relay, clutch safety switch, soleniod, wires, connections, grounds.

Most likely a connection problem .
check all . And don't for get the strap from the solenoid to the starter . You would not be the First guy that replaced same, and had it been check & cleaned - reinstalled no parts would have been needed.

To Check the starter, pull it off (following all the proper procedures) and remove the end from the solenoid. If it is bad it will show! I couldn't get a parts kit and the local repair shop charged me 50! #ad

It's an easy fix and if you go far enough to check it, you are almost done fixing it.

Thanks to all who replied to my request for information. Read them all plus all those from a while back. Checked all suggestions and ended up with a new starter. Works great now. #ad
