I need to get access to the steering wheel column, in between the steering wheel and the dash.

The purpose is to gain access to wiring for teh steering wheel radio controls. I want to install a PCAudio swi-jack steering wheel control module for a new radio, and I need to get access to wires in the column.

This plastic shroud appears to be held together internally with clips. There are two torx head screws on the bottom of the column shroud that I removed. Unfortunately, despite all my pulling and tugging, I can't seem to pull the shroud apart, for fear that I might damage it. :confused:

Any help is most appreciated!:eek::eek:

Seems to me on mine there was 3 screws, one being I think in the center of the shroud; look close to see if I am right. Yes there are clips as well you need to squeeze the shroud to detach as I recall also.

you should be able to get to the wiring just by removing the lower dash panel that is where hooked up my steering wheel controls, but you should even be able to wire in the steering wheel control box from the wire running into the headunit

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find the third screw you mentioned. There are only two screws, directly in the middle and underneath. There must me something still holding it on, because squeeze as I might, I can't get the tabs to release... :mad:

As I remember with mine there was a couple holes about an inch deep or more that had 2 of the screws in them. They was trox head screws and to be honest at first thought there was no screws in there but there was. You have anything like that? If you have the wrong size torx it will feel like no screw inside the hole and even when the right size it is hard to get the driver in the screw head. Sorry don't remember the torx size.

Mine has 4 screws on the bottom --
1 philips, center bottom on the surface
2 recessed torx left and right of the steering wheel
1 recessed torx by the shifter (automatic)

Once they're out if should just pull off (straight down).
