Has anyone found a replacement steering stabilizer for a 2001 besides the OEM replacement? The last time I talked to Rancho, they didn't have anything in the works. The guys at 4 Wheel Parts offered to "make something work", but I'd like to find something that fits the way it's supposed to.

I've seen some old posts about getting and Rancho and pressing the OEM stud into the end, but I don't have the tools for that one in my apartment garage. ;)

So has anyone found anything out there? I'm only running 285s, so a dual setup would probably be overkill... but then again, can you ever have too much of a good thing?

Steering Stabilizer

Auggie, call Matt at Rickson Truck Accessories @ 1-800-587-7633. They sale Heckethorn (heavy duty) stabilizers for $34. 95. Just replace my OEM and the OEM was a bear to break loose. Their web site is www.ricksontruck.com. Satisfied with the Heckethorn.

Rancho and Skyjacker

Rancho has always made a steering stableizer for the 2001, not sure who told you that but they were wrong. SKJ also offers a dual kit. Rancho#5404 and SKJ#7218. Good luck. Jackit.com has both in stock.

I had e-mailed Rancho some time back and that was the word I got from them. Also, when I had bought a Rancho #5404 for a friend's truck ('99), the hardware that was included wasn't the right size to mount on the '01. And the consensus when I did a search on here was that the Rancho mounting hardware wouldn't work.

Has anyone been able to use a Rancho stabilizer on a '01 without pressing out the OEM stud and reusing it, or by fabbing up a new mounting bracket?

I got lucky

I remember reading about that also but when I bought mine it worked, not sure if I got lucky on the parts that came with it. It had about 3-4 bags of bolts, studs etc. in the box, and one of them fit. I bought it from Jackit and they have it listed here in there catalog. I now have the SKJ dual and it is great you should consider it. Cost about $88 from Jackit.com. I did'nt mean to come off wrong there, sorry. Good luck.

on my '01 i put the skyjacker kit on and the only fabricating i had to do was the plate that bolts to the axel I had to drill 2 holes and use the u-bolts from 2 4" muffler clamps instead of the 3" that came with it. let me know if you need more info on this setup

Justin next time your in Giddings Pm me , I have a shop in the barn and we can probubly press the stud in the aftermarket staibilizer. Should have done it to mine, but got mad about the circumstance in which mine BENT:mad: so I beat it off w/ a big hammer:D , and had to fab something up with the bolts that came with it. The oem stud is the way to go if it is not torn up! ;)

Later Jared
