This is weird. When I got my new 2001 RAM, it steered great. After a month or two, the steering wheel went crooked to the left by probably 30 degrees.

Then it slowly corrected itself.

Then it happened again.

So last week, I got it aligned. They found a lot of excessive toe out. Wheel was centered again.

Today, the wheel is crooked again, but now off to the OTHER side.

This is nuts. Something down there must be slipping, but what? The steering box? It still drives straight; no pull.

Any ideas?

You better have that frt. end rechecked, the steering wheel doesnt just go off centre and latter recenter itself. Something must be loose(possible the steering box to frame). This could be dangerous if left alone. Good luck and let us know what turns up.

Check the track bar at the driver side with someone turning the steering wheel. Look for movement at the ball joint, then look at the bolted end, just had mine replaced and they forgot to straighten the steering wheel back out, it actually pulled the front end left or right when they replaced it because of a bad ball joint.

Ditto above, I have just put on my 3rd track bar. No more dodge crap going on my truck. The new trackbar made my Moog has a lifetime warranty and weighs about twice as much as the one from dodge.

I installed the Moog track bar and am happy with it.

[after an alignment]

If your steering wheel is crooked, you can fix it yourself in a few minutes. Loosen the bolts on the drag link at both ends of the sleeve, with two channel locks turn the sleeve about a 1/2 turn remembering which way you turned it. Take a test drive, if it's more crooked, turn it the opposite direction about a full turn.

My truck pulls to the right 99% of the time which leaves the steering wheel cocked to the left. I adjusted the sleeve to compensate and the pull does not bother me near as much because the steering wheel is straight.
