2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission Sterring clunk

Steering clunk

Hey all.

I've searched the other steering threads and it looks like I have a different issues... ... ..... maybe.



Have any of you experienced a "clunk" when turning? This happens at about a 1/4 to 1/2 turn. It's very repeatable. It doesn't appear to be the steering shaft, as this is a very noticable clunk. Almost as if part of the suspension is broken.



I've checked and the sound is stronger at the steering box itself.



I have a DSS, and aftermarket stabilizer.



The steering shaft has no slop towards the wheel. But, very little slop near the box.



Any ideas??

Mine did this when the bolt on the axle side of the track bar was loose.

Something I ddin't check. I will double-check torque on all of the bolts.

Or a bad balljoint... my 04 does this now and it is a bad balljoint.

Jason was half-correct. The heim joint is worn on my track bar (chassis side).
