Will it go away after several starts or do I need to have codes erased? The batteries were disconnected while the VP44 changeout took place.

When I changed my VP44 due to the P0216 and other symptoms, the check engine light and P0216 were still there after start up. I plugged in my OBD tool and erased the code. I've erased the P01740 code by disconnecting the batteries but the P0216 didn't erase that way. You can get a lower level OBD II scanner for around the $70 to $90 range, which I feel is handy tool to have around. Regards, Mike.

P1693 (M) DTC Detected in PCM/ECM or DTC

Detected in ECM

A 9Companion DTC9 was set in both the ECM and PCM.

How did you check for codes, you need to see P-Done twice to read codes in both ecm and Pcm. You probably didn't see all of the codes present yet.

I have a question about p1693. All the books say about it is that the pcm detects a fault in the ecm of the cummins. So how do you get into the ecm and dinstinguish what the problem is?
