First time posting to the board. Haven't posted on a BBS Forum since the 90's. Everyone on the TDR seems very knowledgeable and respectful.
Long story short: I'm assuming I killed my ECM this weekend doing a wiring job. I've been chasing CEL lights on the truck for a few years now, mostly due to DPF issues and a failed turbo actuator. Other than that the 2007.5 truck has been running great since we bought it as a second owner in 2016 with 35,000 miles on it. Currently has 71,000 and Ive never done any engine / emission mods. I've been searching the forum for my issue and only have found "won't start" issues, and have not found anywhere where some has not been able to shut down their vehicle. I have to pull the ECM (PCM) fuse (#42) on the TIPM to get it to shut off. I also have a ton of CEL codes and the ABS light comes on. I do have a StarScan and have done a reset of the ECU, checked every fuse on the TIPM, battery strong, charging strong. Saw somewhere noting that multiple errors suddenly coming up like this usually means a dying ECM. Drove it around a bit post my SNAFU to check drivability and everything seems normal. I just was wondering if anyone else ever had a "no-shut-down" condition ever before. So I guess my real questions are: Has anyone purchased a CARDONE remanufactured ECM, and if so, were you able to do all the programing you need to do with just a Starscan? CARDONE states: "Vehicle specific On-Car Programming must be performed AFTER installation to prevent drivability and starting issues"
I see I can send my ECM in for repair to a few places. Does anyone have a recommendation in said service? Sure would hate for the ECM to get lost in the mail going cross country.

The ECM isn’t the first thing I would suspect, unless the dash shuts off but the engine doesn’t.

What codes are present?

U0144, C2206, B106D, P0462, P2509, P0532, B210D, B212D and yes, the dash shuts down and engine does not.

You are throwing parts at it. Not a way to solve a problem. Exchange your ECM for a hope they 'fixed' whatever on a bad ECM isn't a good place to start. Further I wouldn't touch a Cardone with a 10 foot utility pole. I grew tired of doing the job over because Cardone didn't do theirs. When a reman PS pump of theirs glitter bombs a system ... When you replace the steering box and hydro-booster as part of the clean up one learns quick.

I would inspect and clean the grounds. Looks good: take it apart and clean it anyway to catch hidden corrosion. Have you separated the batteries and load tested them both one at a time?

A single shorted wire can take out the "power" to several sensors and they all set a code. So one problem can be a ton of codes.

As it isn't clear: Have you fixed these problems, they keep coming back, or you just ignore them?

I would look up fuel or oil fed Diesel Engine Runaway just in case this is what's going on.

We have seen ignition switches go bad in the past.
Check the electrical part of it for sticking contacts.
But like others said, way to many codes present. Need to sort them out, one by one.

I would start by looking for codes that indicate low or no voltage as it’s system may be the short triggering the rest.

Look at ECM voltage. If it’s low from a bad relay, ignition switch, ground, connector… The ECM will attempt to write a “1” but the voltage is too low and it’s read as a “0”: mayhem and codes galore follow. This is in general from a bad GM ignition switch experience with lots of codes. RAM is different for the switch as far as I can tell. Low voltage still still can cause many ghost codes.

If you can pull the ecm fuse and the engine shuts down then you probably don't have an oil leak (runaway) issue as in doing so it shuts the fuel pump down.

If you end up sending your ecm out for inspection then I would recommend autocomputerspecialists as a rebuilder.

BUT, being a 2007.5 then you have the first generation ecm that is known for faulty processors and if it's the processor then it cannot be rebuilt.

What wiring were you working on that started your problems and what exactly happened?
