Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Stock fuel guage jumping

As it states above my stock fuel guage jumps from (F) to (E) all day long while driving and it drives me nuts. I know I have to pull or lift the bed off to get to the fuel tank but not sure what part I need to ask the delership to get me? Or can I get this part at NAPA? Any help would be appreciated

Get the sender unit, float assembly, from the dealer. $40 or so.

There are other possibilities too. Do you have a factory service manual? All the troubleshooting procedures in it.

As Gary said, you need a manual anyway. Geno's cd version is very reasonable. I've never had a fuel gauge issue that wasn't related to the tank unit. Been wrong before and ain't afeard to say so.

My only trouble has been with a couple of senders too, but there is a laundry list of other possibilities.

The tank is not hard to drop if you don't want to pull the bed.

It can be done in under a couple hours solo in the street. Make sure to have some blocking and a couple ratchet straps.

The sending unit are known for having problems. Hit the search function up.
