I just started noticing some strange noises just before I come to a stop. It sounds like it is either the rear suspension or the rear brakes. The noise is kind of a creaking/popping noise that very evident right before the truck stops (lower speeds). The harder I brake, the louder the noise.

Any ideas?

Steve

Never had problems with the brakes but I would try adjusting the rear drums, it's easy to do and might be the problem.

Check for a busted rear brake shoe or a shoe that has lost the lining.

There is a TSB on rear spring poping or squeeking. It applies to most all Dodge trucks. Had it done to other halfs 2k Durango.
It is the spring shims ( plastic spacers at end ot leafs ) need repalacing.

Hey! Just had the same kinda problem with the noise... ended up it was my right front inside caliper/rotor. piston was hanging up, toasted it! 31,000 miles and the local Dodge dealer replaced both sides..... no questions... and no more brake pull. i did the same deal of checking the back brakes 1st also, sure sounded like they were the "weakest link"

Well, I still haven't figured out what is going on with this yet and it is driving me nuts. I've had the rear drums off and everything looks ok. I adjusted the rear brakes, but it is still making the same popping/creaking noise that I described above. Almost sounds like it might be axle wrap. Checked the U bolts, but everything seems to be tight.

Any other ideas???

Steve
