Does the Reese Titan or Drawtite Ultra install require drilling?

Trailer bearing maintenance

Wife Said O.K.

Hmmm. I wonder if there are different versions of this hitch floating around out there? Mine required absolutly no drilling for a 2001 LB QC 4x4. What is the hole spacing on your hitch - front to back? My part number was 45010. The label on the box indicated that it fit 99 to present.

That's the one I have. Mine's a chassis cab, 163" wheelbase regular cab. That's 8-9" longer than a quad cab long bed. Thicker too, whole different frame. It just didn't have those two holes for whatever reason.

I'm just going to start calling my truck a short bed. #ad

I think the safest answer as to whether you need to drill or not is "maybe".

Today I replaced my factory hitch with the Reese Titan. Bolted right up no drilling or problems. The hitch dealer gave me a bracket for the trailer plug no charge.

Man this is one heavy duty hitch, makes the stock one look pretty wimpy no wonder they have a recall on it.

You need to watch out for that bracket. Because the Titan V cross bar sits so close to the rear edge of the bumper, you have to bend the trailer connector wire sharply as it exits the bracket. This lets the wire rub on the cross bar. Mine wore through the insulation, shorted out, and blew a fuse. The fix was to use a hole saw and drill through the bumper and mount the connector without using a bracket. Looks neat and there is no wire abrasion.

Just installed Titan V. I had to enlarge 2 holes and elongate 2 holes. I also ordered the Reese extension bar (for campers) and I was told it has been recalled--don't know why! I was also told it will be available again soon.

I have a Reese Titan extension bar (for camper use) that I have no use for, since I upgraded to the Torklift setup.

If anybody wants a good deal on it, email me.

I installed a Titan on my 99 4x4 2500 QC with an 8ft bed, and it was a complete bolt on job. Great hitch.
I did so after trying to get DC to replace my hitch under the recall. . and since it wasnt cracked... . yet... they only would add some POS support brackets, probably designed by the same guy who approved the POS hitch to go on the 2500 & 3500's.

Recall?
what recall- is this on all the factory hitches? I have a '95 2500 but have not recieved any recall notice. If my truck is included, maybe I can work something out with the dealer, I have been looking at the Reese Titan and Draw Tite hitches anyway, since my boat/trailer are pushing 13,000 lbs.

Boathead, the hitch recall was on newer trucks. I know 98. 5 was included in the recall. The problem was that they used cheep forign steel. It didnt go back as far as my 96, so your 95 shouldnt be in it.
