I have done dozens of things to my truck... . but I have never had to remove the rear wheels until today to do a shoe replacement. Step 1. Remove rear wheels... . hmmm 7 normal lug nuts... . then one really strange one... . it's round (no hex) looks hollow and does not appear to be threaded onto the stud... . but it sure is holding the wheel on with all the other nuts off. I sure I glad I never had a flat... . couldn't have changed it.

How do I get the nut (or the wheel) off?

Thanks.

Sounds like a locking lug nut. Did you buy it used?

Take a picture and post it.

Then take a BIG cold chizel and strike really hard dead center.

They usually break easy this way!!

Yep, bought it used. But I just had a tire dealer put new tires on last month. And for the last 5 years at my state mandated safety check they have removed the wheel.

I will try to post a picture.

Thanks.

Mystery Solved:

Fox, you were correct... . locking lug nut. I searched the whole interior of the truck. Way down deep in the glove box was a plastic baggie with the adapter in it.

What a relief!! Now I hope tomorrow's brake job goes well.
