With the range one tank provides I see no reason to ever buy a jug without some sort of emergency.

Not so much based upon range... everyone has their methods. When I bought my 2017 Ram 5500, I asked my dealer service writer of 20 years if he had any advice about a DEF truck. He said keep the tank topped off. I do. So on my 5500, I add 2.5 gallons at close to the half mark on a 9 gallon tank. Not worth the effort to go to a truck stop when I can pick up fresh DEF at Walmart. RV is mostly filled at truck stops, bu occasionally gets a jug.

Cheers, Ron

I don't like to fill bulk because my truck sits a lot during the heat of the Phoenix summers so I like to keep the tank low so it gets fresh def more often. The boxes work better for me because of this. If I'm making a long trip or a post summer trip I'll consider bulk if it looks to be convenient but won't go out of my way for it. With Sam's Club and Costco both selling DEF and I'm at one of those weekly the boxes are actually more convenient.

See, another method based upon owner requirement. Although down in San Antonio TX that gets pretty hot too, my rigs are parked in a 60'x60' shop that stays some cooler than outside.

We get plenty of heat here too, but I still only want to fill bulk.

Nest advise on DEF is to burn it. Only keep what you need in the tank. If you always keep it full you always have older DEF in there.

I prefer to run it down as low as I can an top off. I’ll usually only fill it before it’s low if I’m going on a longer trip.
