What should I use for Fuel Pressure gauge?

Do I need to upgrade Trans/Torque Conv.

Got the pump on tonight, it takes a bit of labor, but all in all it was not that difficult. Of course I had to remove the camshaft in order to install the new front cover/ bracket unit that houses the cp3. 4. It took me about 2 nights after work taking my time to complete. I of course wanted to cross every T and dot every i.

So here it goes... Hit the switch, truck fired right up no problems. . Rail pressure reading approx 5800 to 6200 at idle based on the DRB III.

Test drive... All I can say is HOLD ON !! My butt o meter registered 1 million on the scale :-laf

The comparison between my modded cp3 from II and the new super cp3. 4 : Well both gave 20k rail pressure but with the super cp3. 4 for some reason it feels like I am running the smarty on level 9 and tst on 2/2 when in fact the smarty is only on level 5 and tst on 2/2. It just pulls so da** hard.

With Smarty on level 5 and tst on level 2/2. Rail pressure NEVER !! EXCEEDED what the """ECM COMMANDED" according to the DRBII AND the Dipricol analog gauge AND the TST rail pressure gauge.

The highest rail pressure I saw was about 22. 8k when letting off after full throttle down capital blvd in Raleigh. I have no pressure box adding pressure. I am sure I can get more rail pressure, and that will not be a problem, but with just the smarty on 5 and tst on 2/2 I get a consistent 20 to 21k.

I am just very happy to report that all of the comments I have read and heard over the past month about the super cp3. 4 being too much pump, and rail pressure spikes will hit 30k and I was going to have too much fuel and could not get rid of it, and I would wash down cylinders. Well all of these are "FALSE" on my truck! :D My 2005 Dodge ram idles smoother and pulls harder with minimal smoke with 32 LPM 8 hole Industrial Injection nozzles and Rail pressure is looking A OK

Also I would like to say that the endless conversations I had with Brady at II were helpful. He assured me that I would not have excessive rail pressure and that the cp3. 4 regulates pressure down as well as up. Brady made sure that the product I got was what I wanted and that was a product that would work like stock but keep rail pressure up at a safe level.

Got Fuel ? :-laf

I will try to post some pictures as soon as I get the Kodak working. Looks like stock under the hood. Not very noticable. The one thing I really like so far is no soft or hard codes and rail pressure DOES What ECM tells it to. . I just went out again on a test drive with the DRB III ECM commanded 19830 moderate throttle Cp3. 4 gave 19854. Super :-laf

Sounds good! Good to see you post technical data from the DRB and rail pressure gauge as back-up too. I wonder what it would be like if you did have a pressure box installed on its lowest setting? I can barely run 30% on my MP8 before the rail pressure is maxed with the modded CP3.

Gonna dyno too?

I have a predator box at work that I plan to stack (per Brady) tomarrow. Then go on a test drive and watch the rail pressure closely !!! This thing has so much potential. I am just so thrilled that with the smarty and tst together that I have no problems with excessive rail pressure or spikes. I plan to update more this weekend after I have had a chance to test and tune with the DRB III and the predator box. Thanks !!

Just curious, Why did you go with the cp3. 4 over dual cp3's?

I really liked the idea of having one pump = less diagnostics when something messes up and less fuel lines, and also looks more stock. Kinda looks like a sleeper when you look under the hood :-laf

to answer your question luken, one super pump out flows 2 stockers all day long.

in a replie to your quote

"I am just very happy to report that all of the comments I have read and heard over the past month about the super cp3. 4 being too much pump, and rail pressure spikes will hit 30k and I was going to have too much fuel and could not get rid of it, and I would wash down cylinders. that B. S. only comes from those who really dont know what they are talking about, and it will never change im sure. also with people just throwing boxes at a truck thinking that the best there is. when you have a pump that can supply all the pressure demanded at any time, and you put a pressure box on that demands a ton of fuel all the time by fooling the ecm to think there is not enough fuel there. so yes at that point you will see a very big pressure spike. if used correctly like shown above i think this will be the hot ticket.

jason im glad to see your up and running, sounds promising. give us a holler when you hit the dyno. good luck Oo.

That is sweet to here that your truck runs so good. My truck is at ATS right now having their twin cp3's added. They said I could try them out and if I don't like them they will take them off. I will be curious to what my pressures will spike at.

tssssst, getting the beer ready. one fact still comes to mind when you have all that fuel supplied by the 3. 4, you still need the proper tuning and airflow to burn all the fuel that it can supply.

What cam would you guys run to go with this CP3. 4 and some injectors etc.

we have had good luck with Hogue cams, the same one that was in the project X truck. it made like 870 hp . it's a 03' cummins with 200k on the clock

Happy to report day 2 of driving and no excessive rail pressure according to the DRB III and by my dipricol rail pressure gauge.

I did do a little something though :-laf ,, I installed smarty 7 with tst on 2/2 and MAN Da** !! I am really going to have fun this year with the truck. It pulls so hard, you just really need to ride in it to feel what I feel. I am so amazed.

I think this will be my ultimate stack for Safety reasons, Smarty on 7 and tst on 2/2. If things change I will update as far as different settings and rail pressure readings.

I am also going to add a little pressure for those who want to know how the cp3. 4 will handle spikes and the such with a rail pressure box. I am going to add some predator to the mix and monitor each step of the way with the DRB III and get some info back here for all.

But so far, I really like this setup and driveability is just like stock. I do not know its on the truck util I put my foot in it and I have absolutely NO rail pressure drop.

Got Fuel? :-laf

On the subject of CP3's. A problem with a Floor-It unit. Got it on the truck, and now rail pressure is crazy. All over the place. After I give it some gas, rail pressure goes to like 20 thousand when RPM's are right at or under 1000. Change the FCA or what ever it is called on the back of the pump to stock, still having the problem. Changed the rail sensor. Still having the problem. John is over nighting me a new pump, hopefully we get this figured out.

Reports like that Criggan will get the dual cp3s vs. Cp3. 4 conversations going. This is my next step along with some injectors, just gathering info for now. I appreciate the great info. Let us know what that truck dynos or some 1/4 mile times if you get a chance.
