First I really appreciate all the help you all have been in the past just by using the search function. You all have helped a ton with most of my issues, without ever knowing you were helping.
I am having multiple issues that I feel may be related. I am an ASE certified tech, but this is a head scratcher. I will try to trim the fat on this post to make it easy to read/ understand.
Taking you back to this spring, the output shaft bearings failed in the trans. So I pulled the trans and replaced the bearings bushings and seals. Bearings seem to have failed due to the worthless trans shop not replacing them on the last rebuild @ 170k. The bearings failed @ 180k.
Instead of only replacing the tail shaft bearings, I pulled the trans and wanted to check all the internals for metal shavings as I had bearing material in the pan. I utilized the ATG 47RE manual which was very beneficial and made the rebuild very simple.
Here are the mods I installed during the rebuild.
1. Suncoast Low stall convertor
2. GM gov. press solenoid, Every sensor in the trans, and internal harness
3. Sonnax billet lever, band strut, billet servo, Billet Accumulator
4. Deep sump ATS Pan
5. Trans temp gauge
6. Refilled with Dex/Merc 3 and a bottle of Lubeguard (per Suncoast).
**I broke a cooler line upon reinstall and wanted to get the truck on the road. So I repaired with ½ inch fuel line and some hose clamps. ( I have not replaced it yet.) **
Here is where it gets interesting… At the same time as the trans rebuild I added the Quadzilla XZT tuner.
My 2nd possibly related concern, is upon cold start in the morning (temp appx 70°) the truck will crank no start for about 15-20 seconds. The truck is parked uphill everyday which leads me to believe there is an air leak at the recently replaced VP44 but there is not any visual leaks.
So to land the plane, what is the most likely?
1. The surging is actually the trans surging from air pockets getting pulled into the trans from the ½ inch hose clamped line?
2. Is the Quadzilla causing the surging on every setting including the stock one?
3. Is the fuel line pulling air causing at low press causing the injection pump to misfire?
What could I possibly be missing?
The truck is a
2002 2500 SLT/Auto 2wd- Mods; Industrial injection VP44, Fass Platinum, S&B CAI, Quadzilla XZT, 5" exhaust, Suncoast Low stall torque converter, GM governor press. solonoid, EGT/Trans/Boost guages, rebuilt trans and diff and a lot of new suspension parts.
