For the last month or so I've been battling a surge issue. When I put my truck on cruise control, it doesn't hold a steady speed - you can feel it apply power, coast, apply power, coast... . with the Xzillaraider on level 3, you can watch the boost gauge change by @4lbs, but no change in rpms. Drop down a level, and you can barely feel it, and the boost gage doesn't move. Turn the box off, and I cant feel it anymore. The first time it happened, I wiggled and jiggled all of my connections to make sure they were there, and after that the problem disappeared. Then I had go in to get my steering gear replaced, so I removed the box, and after reinstallation, the surge was back. So last night before I went home, I re-did all of the connectors. Then on the drive home, it felt like I was loosing fuel pressure. At the second stop light, the truck completely died, and wouldn't start. It would start to fire, then just died off like it didn't have anymore fuel.
I got out and quickly re-jiggled all of connections, and luckily it fired up. THen this morning - it wouldn't start again. So one by one I went through the connections, and it turned out to be the blue connector common to the motor - as opposed to the one on the pigtail.
And on the drive to work, the cruise surge was gone. Apparently "solved"... . but I think I just cured symptom. Is it possible that there is something loose in the connector? Previously, all the connections were solidly in place - making me think that its just luck of the draw if its getting a good 100% contact. Why did I only notice it only on cruise? Is it because the computer tries to control the rpms so closely as opposed to my foot and the inherent variation with it?
