I bought a motor to replace my old cracked 53 block. While transferring everything over, I noticed there is no armature/pickup for the cps on the new block. Is there a way to bypass this or put one in? I do not want to have to swap cranks. The motor is going into my 99 freightliner box truck. I got it out of an 01 ram 3500.

Cummins found out about this problem when they replaced my 53 with the 56. They gave some thought to it and decided it was easier/better to have the stock setup. I do not know if they replaced the crank or if the 56 crank had the holes drilled and tapped for a tone ring, I think it may have been the latter. So I assume they removed the tone ring from the 53 and bolted it to the 56. Later Cummins use the cam sensor but the 99 only uses the cam sensor for diagnostics and not actual operation. Using the cam sensor would probably be an ECM reprogram.
