After reading about all the transfer pump failures going on (and receiving a recall notice), thought I'd better try and get some input from you fellas. I've recently had a couple of "stumbles" while taking off in 2nd, and think this might be a symptom of the pump going south.

Q: What parts (fittings, hose, guage, etc. ) do I need to build a "tester" gauge? Or does anybody sell one 'off the shelf' ? I'll be installing my in cab gauge later on.

Q: If my pressure is low (and not knowing how long it's been down), is there a way to check the VP44 for wear or damage?

Q: What after-market pump is everyone using with the most dependibility (Cummins, Carter, Holley, etc. )?

Q: I want to install a new pump near the tank (the right way), but, should I have Dodge (under warranty) replace the new pump, then add the "pusher" pump at the tank? Or, just run with the new pusher at the tank only?

I've got a long run comin' up this week (2000mi. ), and would like to have a spare 'just in case'. Where's the best place to get one on short notice (I've heard Cummins is back ordered).

... . and I'm at 37K miles.

Thanks for your input

I bouth the Pusher pump kit from Enterprise, www.enterpriseengine.com It has all the stuff you need including the relay, just call them and tell them you want the Pusher pump kit for the Ram. As for a test gauge, get a refrigiration hose and a pressure gauge from any plumbing supply house and for 20 bucks, there is your test gauge. Just make sure you get a long enough hose so that you can put the gauge where you can see it while driving. My lift pump is shot and i am waiting to have it replaced on thursday morning i hope. I am not installing my pusher pump till the stock pump is fixed.
