WOW, this plateless thread is still going on:--) Cummins Corvette are you going to Muncie? Tell you what, lets race, you without your worthless cam plate & I'll leave mine in, according to your findings, you should have way more power than me, cause I still run with a cam plate. I'll even give you a heads up on what engine mods I have so you will know what you're up against.

PDR prepped HX40 with a 16 housing, 4" exhaust

Ported cyl. head [ no power there, just lower egt's]

I'll run without my big injectors, just the 370's

PDR engine cam shaft

160hp pump that's been tweaked on a bit, but still has a cam plate in it.

94 5 spd truck, trans stock other than a South Bend clutch

Are ya game???

I don't think that that would be fair for you Piers, he has a 215hp pump and you are only running that little baby 160hp pump. ;)

He is getting full rack travel and yours has a cam plate in the way!! :D Be carefull!! LOL:rolleyes:

:D :D :D

Piers, Looks like you let the cat out of the bag. Need an automatic to do some testing on.....

No way Sly, he needs to have it tested in the hot Texas heat. Ya know, just to make sure the EGT's stay in check. :)

I heard about this cam from Piers last week. I had not talked to him in quite a while and decided to call. He was thrashing away as usual and mentioned some stuff about the cam. He was installing one when I called I believe.

Don~

Maybe he needs a cam and the magic VGT HX40 tested on an ETH in the extremely rugged climate of the oilfields of Alberta! :D :D :D Hey-I'll even be a paying beta tester!

I can hope can't I?

If that is the case, then we can put one in my truck when I see him at Munice!!!:D

Come on now Piers needs to test EGT reduction down here in this hot and humid air (>90deg,>90%humidity) towing big loads over long distances, max A/C on, and slightly over the speed limit. :D

For a test unit call PRONTO Hot Shot 225-938-6630.

As a follow up

I didn't read the whole thing again so don't know if it was included but Cummins Corvette eventually had to replace his injection pump which lead to another thread almost as long as this one...

**Tip to anyone who wants to read this entire thread. Go to the bottom of the page and click show printable version, when it comes up click show all 195 posts on one page.

Funny thing is Piers and I were talking about a custom plate and he said try it without the plate, so I did, no improvement by the EGT gauge to speak of just a little more top end smoke which is to be expected as the #4 plate has a nose on it! I put it back in!

Bill, I forgot about that thread. I might just have to bring that one to the top. ;) I must say that his threads were entertaining. :D

Chip, what I also found entertaining and an incredible coincidence was I met a guy vacationing in Montana last summer who lived across the street from CC. We started talking about my Dodge and his PSD, he commented about how his neighbor had a Dodge that rarely ran, sat in the driveway all the time with the hood up. After a bit more talking the dots started connecting, we figured out his neighbor was our famous friend...

I'll give him credit for being one of the most enthusiastic members TDR has ever had.

CC called me some time after this thread and told me he found that his truck ran better--more boost, quicker acceleration--after he put the plate back in.
