Steve , please consider giving whitmore ,and (etc) there own forum and NOT have it come up under VIEW NEW POSTS. Enough is enough, This is and possibly was the best truck site --and a guy could recommend and promote it ,now it seems like you have to weed through 50% of the posts on -Human wastes, what kind of pillow, do you pick your nose.

I think part of the problem is they think they are getting credibility by way of the -- (Most posts section).

This AM, there was 7 in a row that a 2nd grade teacher would say Johnny, we do not need to know things like that.

I don't care what posts there are, I just don't read the ones that don't interest me,

but I am curious about post count, what is the whole point behind having a post count anyway? It doesn't serve any purpose as far as I can tell.

You can't tell how long someone has been here by their post count, you can't tell how knowledgeable someone is by their post count, so what the reason for it?

I've looked at the code and I can turn off the Other forum posts from showing up in "View New Posts" and "Get Last Days Posts". I've put up a poll on it in the Website forum - https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=55150 . Please go there and express your opinion and we'll go by the results of that poll as to which way to go.

The top poster and top thread starter were added because of user requests several months ago.

"Beware of what you ask for..... you just might get it. "

For one I am against "Postwhoring" and yes it is anoying when people "Blast" a topic with threads. You may have a post up on the board that is new and within 2 hours it's no where to be seen because it gets shoved by the wayside. I for one tried to get a OTHER OTHER forum going so that this one can be relied on for q&a about homes , cars , tv's ... . professional help etc!

My 2 $

Other

Not diesel related? Has nothing to do with the TDR or the TDRoundtable. You can still discuss it here -- in the "Other" Forum.

Plain and simple if ya ask me!

I think there's a fine line - but one pretty easily comprehended by ADULTS - between "freedom" and being "free" to display our irresponsible, juvenile/gross sides...

The REAL pity is, as the more childish among us abuse the basic freedom, it might easily be COMPLETELY removed - and THEN, even the more conservative "others" will be punished right along with the REAL abusers - and ya know what? The real abusers won't actually give a toot - because they don't really care all that much about the REST of what goes on here, either! :(

I guess Gary that I qualify in your eyes as an abuser and I can tell you if you havent looked at some of the threads here that I am also a serious Dosge Cummins fenatic and think I DO contribut to the betterment of all my TDR buddies... ... ... . When I say TDR buddies that does include you too as well as others that dont like the corn side of me ... ... ... Kevin

I joined in '99. I don't know if that makes me an old timer or not. If not the calendar does anyway.

I get a lot of value out of the content. The content is in all forums, but, the Other forum. Thus forum is to laugh, vent, and talk.

Can I propose a compromise? In the tech forums, plese don't post things that are not "on point". Like Yeah, what he said and sorry to hear that and things that make the thread longer and do not advance the content.

Come here and go crazy. Non members can't see this forum. If you want to make it better. When you start a thread don't give it a deceptive name to draw people in. Instead, put some verbiage in the thread title to let those who want to play that this is a place.

It is the other forum it is for not diesel related. It is for members only. No one HAS to read every post.

Is it going downhill? You bet it is! Just like the country and morality... . too much freedom for those who can't seem to control themselves. How do you expect SSL, or anybody, take control of the poo-poo, pillow, weenie and other 2nd grader nonsense filled threads?

I have seen many knowledgable members either give up their memberships or get kicked out and yet the "schoolboys" are still here! So, when its all over this will be yet another POS site due to individuals mistaking stupidity for freedom of speech!

What can you and I do? IGNORE THE THREADS THAT serve no purpose! Sure we have a guy on here who is all laughs... no name, but we know him, laughs are great but "potty humor" is for grade school. Lets not try to get the moderator to fix it, lets do it ourselves... IGNORE THE USELESS THREADS. View it if you must but do not reply!

IGNORE THE USELESS THREADS!

Time to clean some of this up!

I know it is something I don't have to read but there is other places for the goofy stuff.

Toolman makes a good point, put a serious post up and it will disappear in hours due to things that don't relate to CTD's.

Just my thoughts, but what do I know.

956wheel said a mouthful. I agree wholeheartedly. Stop the juvenille (sp) stuff.

As I'm sure your mother use to say... . "If you don't have something meaningfull to contribute... ... GO SIT ON YOUR HANDS so they are not banging on the keyboard... . "

I have a feeling those who are doing this are laughing their a$$'s off right now... ..... :( :(

I kinda have to agree with 956's pov. A Fender Tele(guitar) site I read had a post the other day about the same kinda thing. It's just that with more people getting use of the internet, there are more people to joke around with. I'm just amazed it has taken THIS long on this site.

Personally, I love the other forum, think it's great, but there is a forum for talk, and there is a forum for play I think.
