I firgure with all the talk about dropping valves, burnt pistons and such lately, I would post some good news to shed some light for us. :D I wasn't going to tear into mine this far, but Rams-n-Hogs and Bandit1 talked me into it the other night since I have been battling a rough running condition. Now I'm glad the did. :--) :-laf

Anyway, as you see everything looked great inside the engine. Pistons were clean as could be expected. There was no carbon built up on them at all except the little bit of shine that you can see in the pics. The cylinders look good and still have the crosshatching.

Just an FYI. Anyone that knows me, knows this truck has been anything but pampered over the course of the last 40,000 miles. I daily drive it like I stole it :D , tow the car trailer and also the dump trailer. And it has had the TST on it since it had 99 miles on the odometer. Anyway, long story short. YES, the cummins is that mighty for those that are wondering. :-{} :p :-laf

new cam.

nothing much else short of a bore and stoke that you can do :)

Maybe not the block, but there are a number of things that probably can be done to the head. P/P and valve spring upgrade I would think. Don't know if there are performance valve upgrades available to that engine/head, but this would be the time too find out.

This is a little off topic but I was wondering why one set of valves had small indentions in them. My guess would be to tell the intake from exhaust but I'm not 100%.

Myself and many of my friends who work at large companies cannot access photobucket pictures. Many companies consider this website, as well as most all other photo-hosting sites, as a security threat. As a result, many companies block these sites. I'd rather see a small pic than none at all.

Okay, I'll get back to work.

not necessary a security threat, more so a "resource" threat. Downing images can be a waste of bandwidth that coudl be used servicing customer. Also, "questionable" content is also block this way. It's a form of censorship.

Sounds to me like somebody knows why the truck was running rough but they're not spillin the beans, c'mon now we want to know, we've all overlooked something simple. My 4 wheeler wouldn't start the other day and I was gettin ready to tear into it and noticed the emergency kill switch had been moved by a toddler.

Super Tuned by Mid-Atlantic Diesel Performance, Bandit1, Rams-n-Hogs and a few other companies to be named later.
