i talked to Al over at PDR and he said he had a nice higher hp 24 v cam but u had to fly cut the pistons. And another one is on the way really soon, a higher hp cam, ... . not just the tq, less smoke, spool up, and lower egt. He said they had lots of 12 v cams to choose from. But i think the new cam doesn't require fly cutting the pistons. There prices are a lot cheaper than others and i don't think u have to drive up to BC either! Also, enterprise had great prices on their cams, but know anything more than that. Reb

You dont have to be a long time customer? Piers is a great guy and you like him after you meet him in person, those things matter to me, he takes time to listen and talk to you. He is on the list to buy from. jim

Me thinks he is packing his bags for a trip to Muncie... ... . at least that is what he mentioned in another post... .

What is fly-cutting a piston??? It sounds serious. :D

Why, you just take a big ol drill and bit and hog a couple holes in the top of your piston to clear the valves, nothing to it.

I'm sure somebody on here has used a torch or die grinder, they are handy with those things.

With that lame ole' 160 pump and the new cam, Piers' truck scares the hell outta me. Quick as a wink we hit 100 MPH with almost NO smoke. EGT's in the safe range. Idle temps around 250*F and stop/go traffic average about 350-400*F.

His truck smokes less than mine and he's pouring copious amounts of fuel into that thing.

He's wastgated at 40psi and only twice did we break over 1000*F.

BTW, it will be a ship and install yourself upgrade, at a really nice cost. (including new lifters if I remember right)

I should mention that idle was very nice, and low end lugging it was pretty nice too. No spasms, or bucking, no smoke with normal throttle up. He has seen a mileage imrpovement but I can't recall what he quoted.

No fly-cutting required for this cam. Piers commissioned the master cam for this, cut to his spec.

I wish I could afford one for mine.....

I spend enough time around non-linear editors/shared storage systems all week long... . I will find time during the weekend to make these videos appear on the web, however.

Drew, I may need you to be the guy that 'distributes' them... . over AOL IM or something... .

The reason Piers has'nt replied to any of the posts on this thread is he is on his way to Muncie. I have proof he stopped by and took me for a ride. :D

The cam is impresive I can't quote #'s cuz it's not my truck and I don't get to drive it every day:( The mileage so far is a marked improvement. It is very streetable, smooth at all speeds. It has just a hint of a lope at an idle   The thing I was most impressed with is the reasonable EGT's under hard acceleration. Oh wait that was the second most impresive thing the first is what the price is, aprox $600. 00 with exchange for the cam and lifters:--)

Needless to say I already have one being done Oo. That way I can post findings on a truck I get to drive every day.

$600... ... holy streaks of ruber Batman!!

Sounds like a heck of a deal, just hope that no one orders one, thinking that it should be easy, and ends up screwing up the truck. So is this one of those copy cat cams that DD was knew would show up sooner or later?(serious question, not a flame, and not trying to smear Piers name either. )

Andrew

It's not a copy cat cam Piers has never seen DD's cam That was discussed earlier. No one's seen DD's cam exept the guys at DD and Joe. So that makes it an original:D :D As far as screwing up a truck if your not qualified or capable of putting a cam in and you order it. You should probably find some one that is:rolleyes: Not every one can drive to NV or BC to have one installed. It just opens up another option:cool:

No its not a copy. Piers has been working on this for some time. I was in the shop as he was working out lift and durations to try when he went to the 'grinder'.

I understand he had a couple o' three "re-works" before it seemed to be doing what he wanted. he quouted lift and duration but I'll not repeat that as I took it in confidence.

He started with a stock cam as I understand it, shot peened, rockwell tested in every conceiveble location for consistency and finally seems to have found the setup he thinks is pretty darn close to 'ready to go'. He did mention he'd like to see this used on guys who tow, as a primary application, but not limited too. .

The same system of R&D with the same cam grinder who made the cam for the 160 HP P7100 pumps was used.

He even has their decal on his truck.

In both cases he owns the master cams used to produce this end product.

In my personal opinion Piers does his own work, R&D, commissioning of production. Copying doesn't seem to be his style or ethic. JMO.
