did you NOT see what I said......

I know Piers would not copy, hence the remark about smearing his name. Piers is as smart as they come when it comes to our trucks. It's great to see that compition is still alive so that we can have more then one choice when it come to things like this.

Sorry for the confussion,

Andrew

stop the show

somebody please, chain yourself to the dyno roller until i get there in saturday. noon at the latest. get some SPF 30 and chill out :D

I'll buy you all the "Milk" you can drink for doing this :D

Is it just me or does changing the Cam seem like a complete pain in the a$$, especially those dang lifters, this is were I like older gas motors:D

Jim

Hard to believe, but newer gas motors are even easier to change... . OHC/DOHC engines are a snap to change a cam... .

I think the benefits of any aftermarket cam more than outweigh the PITA factor... .

Here we are feeding an engine 500hp worth of fuel at 3000+rpm... . and it has a camshaft profile designed for 160-245hp at 2600rpm... .

The cams aren't for everyone... . but now that Piers has jumped in (although, not officially... . ) with his cam we have more choices... and that's a very good thing.

That's my $0. 04 worth...

Matt

Anybody know if it's for the undervalved crowd or does he have one for the properly valved trucks?;) :p Or is it one and the same.

Glenn

BFC, In the other post it say's that he has both!

I hear what your saying about the cams, I guess that first cam change will be intimidating till it's done, One thing for sure the price is right, but that is with no labor, I've heard of others that are grinding cams too just not out yet!

Jim

BOTW, at this time he is driving across the country checking this thing out and so far it's great news, low EGT's at high speed runs and he has data from before and after so we will get to see what the mileage is like. If the EGT's are that low and he is making big numbers (didn't he make 512 before) then twins are not needed for a while, doesn't he run (1) HX-40? Heck even if a guy were to run a set of little twins it would be cool, time will tell. Guys like him never quit thinking.

Jim

Piers is on his way to Muncie, that's why he did'nt post on the cam yet. He would'nt be able to respond untill he got back. But after a ride and getting MY name on the cam list  I figured I could let the cat out of the bag and the fight could begin for the remaining spots on the waiting list:p This as with the other cams does not eliminate EGT's but does deffinatly help, quicker spool up (well who does'nt want that), better mileage(I know theirs a down side to that:p ) all good things near as I can tell.

He's running 1 PDR HX-40

The Dyno run I saw (without the cam) on BD's Mustang dyno ( I know that's not a true dyno or true #'s in everyones eyes but it got the job done and sure does push hard, even harder that some of the "proper" dyno's) was 510

As far as the PITA of install well I know I've done many things to my (and other peoples) truck that fall under that category but I think this one's well worth it. Oo.

Hey Jason, thanks for the post report on the cam! I called there yesterday and talked to Louise thanking her for the prompt order and she was giving me feedback on what he was telling her when he called back. Let me ask you this, at what H. P. level does it become feasable to install a different cam? I know the mark has to be up there pretty high (not in my case... . that is a long way off) just wonder what you thought.

Jim

I'm doing it for three reasons

#1 lower EGT's playing and towing

#2 quicker spool on the turbo (I want to run at least a Hx-40 w/16 or 18 housing with less lag)

#3 better milage(since I'm not getting the 25-30 everyone else claims:rolleyes: )

Then I can run more fuel =ing more HPOo. Oo.

and have more of it be useable

P. S. the lope at idle is very:cool: :D

One truck @ Muncie had such a lope that it shook the whole truck when it was in gear... .

Matt

Now if we could just get you to do the movies from that one. ;)

Eric told me that it was because that White truck had such a tight clutch is why it was shaking like that. Don't know about that but it was too cool.

Andrew

That truck had an automatic in it... ...

Was it a 1999% convertor ??!!

I was like: "Holy crap!!"

Matt

BTW, I WANT THAT BAD OF AN IDLE LOPE!!!!!

To the top, I am hoping that Piers is back from Muncie and would stop by and make a few comments...

Piers Multiplicity

We need to get a DNA sample from Piers so someone can make a few clonies of him. That way there'll be a little more Piers to go around. We need at least four Piers: An R&D Piers, a PR Piers, a BOMB Piers, and a Showoff Piers. R&D Piers develops the products, PR Piers hangs out on TDR & NW BOMBers 24/7 and fields endless phone calls and emails, BOMB Piers installs PDR Products, and Showoff Piers participates in events without interruption to all of the above :D

I'll be the "Showoff Piers"..... only if it comes with diplomatic immunity... . all them burnouts/doughnuts that I'd have to do would surely get me in jail quickly if I didn't have high status among the law-enforcement crowd... .

I'm back from Muncie & sort of caught up:rolleyes: It was sure nice to meet all you guys that showed up, I had a great time. One mother of a long drive though, 2200 miles in 4 days, rest for two days, then back again. I think next time I'll take a couple extra days to do that one. As for the cam, I like it, mileage was up 1. 2 mpg from normal, but as I was rushing a bit [ got a ticket in Montana for 88mph] I expect a little better improvement in everyday driving. Before the cam I could hold a steady 100 mph in 70 degree weather at just shy of 1100 pre turbo temps. After I was holding a steady 100mph at 975. Bottom end response is better. This cam is meant for towing, although it did pretty good in the couple street races I had. It is only . 023" more lift than the factory one, so no fly cutting of pistons or thicker head gaskets are needed. Before they go on the market I want other people to give some feed back on it, just cause i like it doesn't mean it's worth it.

Nascar Mark has a 1st gen auto truck & he has agreed to do some testing for me.

Jet pilot { Doug } has agreed to test one in his 24v automatic rocket. Nice times at Muncie Doug.

Strick 9 [ Chris ] said he'll do some testing for me in his 12v automatic.

I have one in a 24v 5 spd truck right now, but it was put in at the same time the VP44 was removed and a P7100 installed so I can't go by those results.

Once those 3 cams are installed and some more results come back I'll be offering a kit. It'l have a set of reground lifters and the cam and will be offered at a reasonable price. I can't quote the price as per the rules, but the kit will be less than $600. 00 exchange. If you have any questions [ other than direct spec's ] I'll be happy to answer them.
