Hey, don't start rumors. FORD DOES NOT OWN CUMMINS.

The ford owns Cummings thing is an inside joke for those that have been around the forum long enough. You guys that keep posting the links to the Cummins site article that states Ford doesn't own Cummins are cracking me up! :-laf

I agree lightman. I made a total tongue in check joke with the correction of "Ford owns Cummings" thing. If I had known people would take that seriously I wouldn't have posted it.

Now, about Cummings that is an occasional misspelling of CUMMINS that come up every once and a while. So, combining a common rumor with another Dorked up spelling of CUMMINS was just a joke indeed. :-laf

Cheers, Bill

Update

My friend is at Dodge training today and dodge briefed them on the new 2007 models coming out in August. The Ram will feature the 6. 7 cummins engine, with choice of 6 speed manual, or 6 speed automatic trans in the 2500, 3500, 4500, and 5500. I think he said the goal for the torque numbers was in or close to the 700 range. Thought I would add this bit of info.

Just talked to a Cummins guy last night. He said 6. 7 L, 400 hp in the 07 pickups.

Also said Cummins is working on v6 and v8, one as small as 2. 4 liter. I said "you mean 4. 2?" He said 2. 4 L. Has no idea what vehicle it's destined for. Maybe a car.

nice numbers but if it's made in Mexico (the truck) I won't buy it. I think all doolelies are now. Body change?

All of the Rams (I believe since '03) are built in Saltillo, Mexico.

Considering the fact that about 75% of the automotive assembly lines are automated and the attention to detail most hispanics have, I have no problem with a truck built in Mexico.

I think it is funny that some people think that Ford owns Cummings! Even thou that deal fell thru when..... about 2 years ago or so!

Here is another funny... someone told me that Ford owns the company that makes the DC trannys!

I think that Ford owns more then most of realize... hehehehe! Next I will hear that Ford owns GM! :D

what is going to happen to the already downward trend in gas mileage! The atuo trans 6 speed sounds nice.

Couple this with the 07 emissions constrictions and all the power and transmission speeds in the world won't make it appealing if it gets 11-15mpg unloaded, or significantly lower with a load. For 5K, anyone can take a 3rd gen 5. 9L to 600hp, which will certainly come into play with $3. 50 #2.

Ford is in their own hole just like GM. Neither company is on ground level to pull the other one back out.

As far as the Ford/DC transmission connection, I think you're mistaking that for the partnership GM and Ford created in 2002 to develop new 6-speed automatics.

There was no deal, Ford owned a limited amount of stock and sold them... never any "deal".
