My friend that is the head mechanic was told at his training they have been testing a 6. 1 isc 500hp that will be the future. He is the same guy that told me what engine we would have in 2003 back in 2001. But I will only believe it when i see it.

I keep hearing all kinds of different engines for the next engine. 6. 1, 6. 5, 6. 7 One person says his friend at DC blah blah blah and then another person says my friend at DC blah blah blah says something different. I'll just wait till it ACTUALLY happens.

As for the Ford / Cummins thing... .

Ford owns Cummings

Ford doesn't own Cummins

i search ebay for cummings parts :-laf

Now, about Cummings that is an occasional misspelling of CUMMINS that come up every once and a while. So, combining a common rumor with another Dorked up spelling of CUMMINS was just a joke indeed. :-laf

I think the 6. 7 will be out next year, doesn't take long to develop an engine for pickup use when the base is available (and the demensions are similar). Just as long as it isn't a Mercedes V8, Dodge will continue to thrive in this market.

Everyone needs to understand that when you install a just in time production line and expect to have heavy penalty clauses for failure to deliver product... . and production lines that build engines, transmissions, etc are running close to 100% capacity it might take 2 to 3 years to bring a new product to the assembly line and into production...

I just worked with a company that builds to my surprise electric tank mounted fuel pumps... . and I showed them the tank unit out of my 04... . they smiled at me, and said... we build that with a pump on it... and found that they build at least 100 different part numbers of sending units/fuel pumps for the OEM"s... something I had no clue that they were doing... ...

I'm sure that the Dodge / Cummins relationship will continue and that the new engine has already been decided upon and tooling is now made and on the way to the production plants if its not there already...

What I want to know... is that if an early release will be available... an 07 can start selling as early as Jan 06 as an early release. . and I'm really wanting to order 2 of the 5500's..... if that's what they call it... .

As I mentioned in my orginial posting of this subject. The dealer said that the DC rep. told them that the new 07' was to be a 6. 1 not a 6. 7. I think that people are getting the MDZ engine mixed up with the new Cummins. The 6. 1 will continue to be an inline 6, the 6. 7 I believe is also an inline 6. It is possible that the MBZ 6 speed auto is the transmission they plan to use in the 07' Dodge. Which if they do that would be a sweet setup! Oo.

I wouldnt trust anything a dealer had to say, most of the comments from well before this thread from sources more credible than a dealer rep indicated a 6. 7L which is already in use in AG. I would believe it be this version over a 6. 1, a 6. 1 just doesnt make much sense.

The earlier comments this year about the new cummins actually referred to the 6. 1, if I remember correctly. I also remember this subject coming up at the last TDR rally we had a Foothill Dodge in California. And that was a year ago! The 6. 7 was as I said the MBZ engine. I find it funny that you would not trust the dealer, now granted they have a some creditablity problems at times. But I was there the day after the Rep was there, and I don't think that 3 different people that told this were wrong!

I remember saying something to someone about the MagaCab, because I said I heard about it from a dealer long before it was on out to the public, and they said the samething about the dealer. Funny... the MagaCab is here!

But I have been known to be wrong... once or twice, maybe!

And why doesn't a 6. 1 make sense? What makes it being a 6. 7 make any more sense? I am sure taking a 5. 9 and making it into a 6. 1 would not be very diffcult.

You could very well have read threads referring to a 6. 1, I'm certain I have seen at least 3 older threads that refer to the 6. 7L. To me it would just make sense that the 6. 7L is in AG use, and is going to be in the trucks and buses in europe. It would be a natural move to do so here, granted a 6. 1 would not be out of the question but since everything else they are doing is 6. 7 why would they change? I'm not willing to argue about it, the proof will be in the pudding, if it's a 6. 1L so be it... .

Seems like this is a topic on some other boards also. It's interesting that the thread starter mentions the NV5600... also he says it will be a 6. 7 B series. Anyway... it's just more useless info until something official is seen or released.

ok to start off if they go to the 6. 7 forget speed its stroked out way to much like the cats they have lots of torque and good power but no speed very slow motors and no matter how built the bottom end is it will only spin so fast because of the laws of physics the 6. 1 up to 3500 maybe even bigger would make more sence since its size change would be simalar to gm going from 6. 5 to 6. 6, a 6. 7 however might be good in the 45/5500 and why not both ford and gm have a bigger version of their motors for their bigger trucks though their 45/5500 are still the same as the 25/3500 as far as the smaller four bangers and the v's ive heard about the v's cummins has made them they aren't however for sale till 09 for which they do not have a buyer yet the four bangers would be good in say a dakota/durango and maybe some of cars anyways just my . 02

I idea that the 6. 7 could be an Option on the 45/5500 makes sense to me, but does it at DC? That is the problem with the Ford and GM's, they use the same engine for all models, and personally I would not buy a F550 with the Powerstroke or the larger GM's with the Duramax!

Something New ....

Ok I am down here in alabama hauling these Fema units. . Me and a buddy are sitting at the pumps at a Walmart when a marron 3500 4wd dually Dodge comes rollin up. . The first thing I notice is the real kool cowl hood... then I look closer the Badge on the hood "powered by Mecedes Benz" I asked the guy what is up. . he goes to tell me there are 6 of these "test" trucks same color with different hp,trq, combos in 2wd,4wd single and dually. I have a pic that I took with my camara phone. . as soon as I figure how to post it I will. I asked to see under the hood and he stated" it could not be pop manually. it had a plug in the door that had to be hook and a code had to be type in. he showed the dual oil filter system under the bumper and all of the fenderwells were blocked up so you could see any of the Engine. . he did tell me it runs like a striiped ape and has been through 3 clutches and the 4th is a south bend and so far it has held up. i asked what size and he stated he did not know and was not able to get any more info other than if it breaks he has number to call and it will towed to a sterling dealer or some other dealer who is certified. I thought it was interesting like I said I have a pic of the hood and will post it soon. .

I think that guy might have been yanking your chain. It seems odd that DC would go through the trouble of concealing the entire engine compartment, and make the hood where it could only be opened by computer and THEN advertise it having a MB engine on the hood??

I know for a fact that the new engine is a Cummins engine. I have a buddy that has been working on the project for months now. The details have been kept super secret and even he was not told exactly what it was he was working on. Before he learned the details, he had to sign papers to the effect that he would be terminated and possibly sued if he leaked details. They take it very seriously and I don't want to get him fired. . He won't tell me anything specific since he signed the papers and thats fine w/ me, but judging from what he has told me he has been working on recently, I'd say the new (or I should say improved  ) engine is ready to roll. . He does say that this engine should be very impressive. I told him that the internet crowd was saying it is a 6. 7. He didn't say one way or another for sure, but he implied that it is NOT a 6. 7. Time will tell.
