cummins in a 4020

Viper Power Creates Fastest Ram Pickup Ever

I am that DURAMAX that this guy ran into .

This cost me $35. oo bucks to set record straight . Dosen't happen to often when you get to hear both sides to the story. javascript:smilie(':--)')

I'll to be fare let him fess up . The way he explained it was wrong . As he stated he went back up north . So I'll give him till Tues to respond. To all the critics I do not want vin. #,s but the truth.

Let me begin :

With my right hand on the BIBLE I do solemly swear to tell the HOLE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH SO HELP ME GOD.....

This is how it really happened:

I was cruising along minding my business in the right lane cruise set at 76 mph when

ALONG CAME A DODGE CUMMINGS ... ... ... ... .

WHO PULLED UP BESIDE ME... ... ... ... ... .

THEN HE MASHED THE RIGHT HAND PEDAL... ... ... ... .

HE STARTED MAKING SMOKE LIKE A PILE OF JUNK TIRES ON FIRE... ... ... ... ...

... ... ... ... to be countinued... ... ... .....

will he respond ???????

Sounds like a "he said/she said" deal to me. :-{} By the way, what's your VIN #? ;)

Welcome to the TDR - we appreciate your business (and your $35). :D

Rusty

Hi amcintyre, welcome to TDR - Maybe I need to move the two Cummins vs Duramax threads to the Competition Forum? I'll wait a day or two and see what comes of it :-{}

Doc

Gee, is it possible, maybe, naaaa....

Maybe more than one incident? Maybe another Duramax that RAMHEAD3437 came upon after spanking the first one?

This will get good!

As for the smoke comment. It takes fuel to make power. The more the merrier! Watch a locomotive or a loaded 18 wheeler when working hard, smoke!

Amazing how the Ford and GM guys get offended by all the smoke that modified Cummins engines put out. I can't find any in my area to even try to run me!

Don't get me wrong, amcintyre, not flaming you, just making an observation. Welcome to the TDR. It's always good to have more perspectives!

This is gonna be good!

SORRY YOU DIDN'T GET THE JOKE ON SPELLING ERROR

but anyway relax give the other guy a chance

I'm not trying to END a WAR but state the facts I will not BASH a cummins nor make false statements

also I AM AWARE WHEN YOU DRIVE THE#1 BONE STOCK TRUCK OUT THERE EVERYBODY WANTS A PIECE OF YOU

so be patient I will state the facts for the skeptics what are the chances of two CT. registered 3500 running into each other on I91 north just outside WHITE RIVER JUNCTION ? one BOMBED one BONE STOCK if he does not respond then he does not have the b**ls his truck does

this is no bull just the truth

Like I said...

#1 Bone Stock Truck? That's a very subjective and debatable claim. Maybe those passing are just signaling that you are "#1"!:p

lets be opened minded here AND NOT ARGUMENTIVE stating #1 only for NEW AND IMPROVED #S OVER WHAT IS COMPETITON PEAK HP AND TORQUE

For the non east coaster this occured in VT. I am hoping that he is honerable and comes forward my truck has very distinictive markings on it . He knows . I dont want to give away yet . Also note he was hauling sleds as reported and them tires must have been spinning 300 mph . How do you spell grease melt down . lol

amcintyre

wonder how you knew about the post ? oh ya you had a buddy with you who must own a CTD to tell you about it . what does he think of the race?

The stock duramax and the stock cummins will always end up in a win with the duramax on top. Just a fact.

I have a Cummins because I wanted something with a proven durability record. I dont know anything about the duramax long term service record.

It appears to be a darn good engine. I have owned an Isuzu powered generator with a little 4 cylinder and it was a bulletproof set-up.

I dont like the independent front end system on the 4 wheel driver trucks or the looks. I have never really been a chevy fan either, but I can tell ya, the duramax looks like it will be a winner if you plan on having a stock or slightly modified truck.

Welcome amcintyre

How do you like the DM? I havent been in one or even heard one, but word is they do pretty well, quiet and quick. How many miles do you have on it? Are any problems surfacing in the transmission or motor at all yet, you or anyone else?

Eric

Welcome Amcintyre !

I have the same questions Zeeew asked. How do you like it?

DonM,

That is NOT a fact. It depends on the individual truck. ;)

Depends even more on which driver has the bigger testicles. .

amcintyre

How do you like your truck? I drove the auto once... . that is all the dealer had, so I could not get a good impression on the engine. It had smooth power.

GM is really pushing the Allison transmission. I really want to drive a manual, but it seems that you have to go order one just to test drive it

The D-Max in town I ran into was a Short bed Ext Cab 4wd, auto Allison truck.

We started off at a red light, and I heard him floor it (My Dad has a D-Max, so I know what they sound like floored) I heard his turbo start to spool up, So with my PE COMP on 5x5 I went WOT right along with him, Here's how it went. .

2nd gear I stayed level with him, when I hit 3rd I fell back about 5 feet, then through 3rd gear I pulled about to where my rear bumper was level with his front bumper. On the shift to 4th I fell back about 2-3 feet then pulled about 1-2 car lengths ahead, then went to 5th gear and was WOT for a second, then I let off the go pedal. and came to a stop for the upcoming light. (Yes, it was Illegal street racing)

I felt good as I have a very "Heavy" truck and I raced one of the lightest versions of HD trucks that Chevy offers,, and won.

I like it plenty . Very powerfull . compared to the last two 6. 5 td one mechanical (93 ) one electric (98) pumps and such . I have 10500 miles so far on the clock. As far as trouble I'll be honest . At about 5000 miles I had one computer glich on allison started it up one evening ses light on .

Drove down road would not shift out of 1st gear . Red lines at 45 mph in first . Restarted truck twice it reset code shifted and ran fine after that. Not a problem since As far as fuel economy I was not surprised not as good as reported . But when you buy a truck for that kind of money who cares how many times you stop at fuel station . It's getting there that makes it fun . I appreciate the welcome and will give non bias responces to all my post. I will never say a dodge cummins is not a outstanding truck and yes a friend of mine owns a 3500 ext cab 4x4 . But not a member here . I found this site searching . I lurk her often to view . Very informitive when you get by the few that are bias. MACKIN

Nice to have you aboard the TDR amcintyre,, I was begining to feel a little bit odd,, as If I was the only one here on TDR that had any real experiance with a D-Max.

Our D-Max has about 34K on it (33,980) and has been better than yours, LOL few problems with it so far and we are towing at, and over GVWR, and GCWR.

Problems with our D-MAx/Allison...

$168. 00 for a Fuel filter

7-12MPG

Weak Frame

Rubber Band tires

Fuel gauge that won't read below 1/2 tank unless you are running on fumes, then it drops down to about 1/8th and no lower.

Can't turn around in a square mile.

and my personal pet peeve with our truck... . Won't do donuts. (Not even in water)(but does do half-hearted burnouts)

Welcome aboard amcintyre, it's good to have one more side of the story. I'm probably gonna get called a commie but here goes. I ride a Harley and I wave to every other biker I see no matter what he rides. I figure that we share a common interest, even if he's not riding a REAL motorcycle... I know..... I know..... it's supposed to be funny :-laf We drive diesel trucks, we have that in common. I might not care for your truck, but that is my right. You as well might think my truck is a dinosaur, that's cool too. I am always willing to talk/help trucks, motorcycles, whatever. That is the learning process, we need the other perspective in order to grow. I'm glad you are here to share with us your perspective.

Highest Regards,

Eric

How well does the transmission work on downhills? Is it noticably better than a "regular" auto? On hills it is suppose to shft down to help hold the load back, and work with the cruise?

What do you get for milage empty and "easy" on the throttle?
