Still Happy with 19.5-inch tires/wheels? Wear?

"14" front end parts with a little road damage

Thanks! It really is nice! I don't want to turn off the full on EB it works great. The auto mode seems wimpy now.

Ok I am still not understanding this rear air ride. Is there one or two ride heights without a load?

I guess I should read my manual!

I like the ease it gets rolling compared to my 11 with 3:42's

You probably recall from another thread that I ordered more or less the identical truck. Which means I really don't know what the hell I'm talking about because I don't have one, so there's your disclaimer. LOL Anyway, if I were to speculate, I'd say the air ride doesn't do much UNLESS it's loaded. From my understanding the springs are the same, and the airbags are more or less overloads. I'd also guess the transport mode likely keeps them either completely uninflated so when the suspension squats as it's chained down it doesn't try to increase air pressure to compensate for the "squat", or it sets it to a higher (or max) pressure so again, the chains can be made tight and not have the air suspension attempt to adjust itself to compensate. Either/or, I don't think you'll see much of anything without a load. This is in contrast to the 1500/2500 trucks and their air suspension which are more adjustable, with the 1500 going as far as even having a "dump" feature on the keychain which lets you lower the truck while approaching it.

Well not really but, I just "force" it to Trans Mode to keep it lower just because I like the way it sits in that mode. So if I turn off the Trans Mode (with a load or no) it levels itself. Then when you hit the Alt Ride Height it levels the truck regardless of the load on it. BUT you have to have some kind of a load on to achieve that ride height. So technically you have two Alternate Ride Heights with a load. ON & Off, That have air in the bags. Transport Mode: no air in bags. Just play with it when you get your fiver on and it will all come to you. One thing I have noticed since we have had mine loaded for a time is the rubber bumpers on the over load springs are touching the main leaves all the time now. (in Transport Mode) where when I brought it home new and put it Transport Mode there was some space between them. So, the springs have set some since new. It seems to ride smoother now too.

Mike there are fewer leaf springs with the air ride set up. The air ride looks to be a simple set up. All based upon the activation bar saying add or release air based on the ride height. I did as much reading and research as I could on the new air ride and that is what I came up with. I did not opt it as I will be towing a lot and if a bag had an issue, I would be SCREWED. Plus I read that these trucks ride better with weight in the bed. As this is my first Ram 3500 CTD DRW I just had to go on other members opinions.

A few more pics.

Nice truck. Congrats. I originally ordered the air ride but it held up my order so I had to remove it. Glad I didn't wait though as I love the AISIN/4.10 combo SO MUCH MORE than the 68rfe/3.42 combo.

Thanks!

I was planning on letting the air ride get a little road time with it being offered for the 14.5's but that did not happen so I finally said get er done! So far love it, just don't understand it yet!

One thing I noticed the 11 would heat up in a very short distance to op temp the 15 takes longer and runs at a cooler temp. All related to the different emissions systems I assume.

I was wondering what tires they put on ur truck? Mine are white lettered & it appears that your's are not.

I would imagine it's also due in part to dual radiators and a cooler thermostat.

Radiators have no effect on initial warm-up, additionally the 15's went back to a single radiator. I am not sure the dual radiators was anything but marketing hype anyhow. Total system volume was the same, and still lower than the 04.5-07 5.9's (by almost 2 gallons)

I would guess it is from the lower EGR flow on the 13+ motors, similar to how long it takes a 5.9 to warm up.

Did the 13+ trucks drop thermostat temp? I thought they were still 200°?

Looks closer to 190 from what I am seeing.

Looks like mine is NOT a dual radiator.

These that are not on my truck any longer? They are blackwall. I think that it's an option for BW or WW.

Changed out to MS2's. NEXENS are for sale in the 3rd and 4th gen for sale area.

Interesting. A 200° thermostat will provide better fuel mileage than a 190° thermostat.

The 190°'s that Cummins uses open at 190°±3°, go full open at 207°, and have a max allowable temp (from Cummins) of 225°. Cruising empty is probably right around 191°-193°.
