Just finished upgrading the MIL gauge to the MIL gauge2 with a Autometer Ultralite 2 5/8" vac. /boost gauge. The original MIL had a 0-15 psi Ultralite mechanical FP gauge, which was short of about 2 psi's of what I needed (this is my pre-filter gauge). I wanted to keep this one mechanical and an Autometer, but 100 psi's was not what I wanted, so the boost gauge fit the bill as it tops out at 20 psi's. It will also show vaccum to 30 in hg, something I will hopefully never see  .

Anyhow, I used the existing -4AN braided line that was the source for the 0-15 gauge as the source for the boost gauge. This is easliy accomplished with a -4AN to 1/8" female NPT adapter.

Initial observations are that it is much more reactive than the FP gauge. When I key on (wait to start), the old FP gauge would jump to 3 psi's, this one jumps right up to 15 psi's. It should be interesting to see how this gauge fairs in the fogging department, the old gauge would fog slightly after a heavy rain/dew. I wasn't too concerned as it would clear right up as soon as the sun hit the gauge's face for a few minutes, though the fogging can't be good for the gauge's life expectancy IMHO. I was going to take a pic. , but it's dark now and the pic. would only be redundant. It's the gauge described above in this mount...

Scott... do you have it mounted permanent there or just as a testing spot ? [I am assuming its mounted permenent]. . also what do you have mounted on the dash to the left of the FP gauge ?

Go bigsaint

So scott, whats up with the lift pump saga. where you going next man. My mallory is still going, but WHEN it takes a dump, i think im going aeromotive with a gravity feed.

Scott, just out of curiosity, how much PSI drop pre and post filter do you see before changing it?

I'm doing something similar on my 12 valver.

Eric, with a clean FF, I see a difference of about 1 psi across the filter at idle. I changed the first filter at 5,000 miles when I had only one FP gauge (pre filter at the time). I changed the 2nd after 7500 miles and still had about a 1 psi drop across the filter at idle. I plan on leaving the 3rd in until I put 10,000 miles, unless I see more than 1 psi of a difference at idle before hand.

Phil, negative on the diesel aspect. I spoke with Mike at PE for quite awhile before I ordered the pump. The actually bench test each pump with diesel before they ship and they know what my intended use will be. Interestingly, they asked that I remove the screened Earl's filter before I install the new pump as they were more concerned that the Earl's may clog and starve the pump. They feel that the tolerances built into this vaned pump will be adequate enough to handle any debris from the tank.
