I guess more and more guys must be moving to 4th gen or more fuel efficient vehicles. Doesn't seem like there's as much activity here as there used to be. I haven't bee on much over the last year or two so it surprised me how few posts per day go up now in this forum. Makes sense I guess.

Other forums have developed... and taken part of the Pie. . The day this forum sell to Autofourms will be the day I cancel My Membership. . You can go to the other sites and see the advertising for skin care or loans...

Yep, me too. And from what I hear the newer forums are populated with a lot of children talking nonsense.

TDR works for me.

I remember the very beginning of the third gen forums when mods only consisted adding mud flaps and body moldings. There was so little available and nothing in the form of power enhancements. I remember one of the first bombs was simply adjusting your wastegate to get another couple of PSI.

I came back after a few years away and this site is a shadow of its former self. 4G forum here is even slower.

I really hate to see it happening as this has always been a fountain of solid information, and so many other forums are full of posers, opinions, and backbiting.

i have spent very little time on other forums. from what i have seen the technical knowledge that can be obtained on the tdr is in a league of its own compared to others. my $35 dollars a year is the best money i think i spend all year. as for being quiet here, well turned over 160000k on the 06, still on original injectors and lift pump. running strong as ever.

I knew nothing about Dodge trucks or Cummins motors when I joined this site. I am the first to admit that I still would not undertake any hard repair on my truck. But the knowledge I have gained about diesels in general has been a real eye opener to me. Really a great forum with lots of grewat people to answer the dumb question that I have about my tractor motor and 3rd gen truck . wont change.

I wasn't downing the forum at all. Didn't even know there were other, new forums. I was more making a commentary on our trucks getting older and many of the guys moving on to new models.

Me too. When I bought my '01 back in June '01 I knew very little more than the diesel engine did not burn gasoline. I've learned a tremendous volume of general knowledge about our trucks from this website and the people who populate it.

I still would not perform repairs myself but thanks to TDR I know enough to ask the right questions to determine if a dealer tech or other mechanic knows enough to be trusted to work on my truck. I have also met some very knowledge people who can answer my questions when some odd symptom shows up and know a couple of good mechanics I can trust to do the work.

I trolled in 1999 and joined in 2000 as I took delivery of my '01 I ordered. I really enjoyed working with Nowell and hearing the updates from Marcos as he was trying to get into the ECM...

I have learned a great deal and have undertaken modifications and repairs I would certainly not have taken on without the help I was offered on this site.

I wonder... ... have we reached a critical mass where all the questions have been asked and answered?! You'll see this pop up when a new member asks a questions and the only response they get is "do a search".

I was first in the 2nd Gen forums and did some of the easy bombs that required relatively inexpensive (or free) parts. With the 3rd gens, it's pretty much software and and expensive hardware for those bombs. With the power the 3rd gens make out of the box, I think fewer guys are bombing, thus less discussion about that part of owning a truck. The 4th gens haven't been around long enough to have a lot of aftermarket parts and, besides, it's just getting more risky to do anything to the trucks now that more and more states are requiring smog checks.

I agree with the slow down... . I have not logged in for three years. I got tired of the repetition, oil and transmission debates that never went anywhere. Back when I first joined, TDR was the only board out there, now there are dozens.

See you soon!

With the economy what it is, and fuel prices where they are, I think there's less interest in modifying for power and more on mileage. Maybe that's not exciting, but bombing my truck is not why I'm on here. The magazine is as informative as it's ever been.
