OK, mea culpa on the Tow/Haul but this time for real - Exhaust brake not working. Exhaust brake pushbutton lights but EVIC not illuminating. I used to set the exhaust brake when starting out. Do I have to be moving to get an indication? What am I missing this time? It worked last time I tried it in the spring when towing.

Thanks,

Al

@2013megacab, You might need to slow down on how you press the button. I engage mine before putting into gear. Press once and just light, second push shows Auto on the EVIC. I've done the same thing when pressing. Still have both since the 67A.

Well, IDK whether it was press duration or dirty contacts but the indicator is working now. As long as I was in there I hooked up my scanner. At Idle VGT_A_CMD and actual were the same. When I goosed the throttle they changed and tracked. Idle was 70-ish (picture show it in the process of changing from 69 to 70)and goosed was 45 based on TCA_RPM. I think my turbo is OK I'll check it when I can put some load on it and see what the values are.

What percent does it show when the EB is turned off?

@2013megacab, You can keep an eye on your turbo by viewing the exhaust brake and turbo boost on the EVIC. If you're not getting above 10 psi for boost and, then not getting above 50 hp on exhaust brake, you may have a failing turbo actuator. They'll start failing when you're near 4K hours combined on the hour meter. Some have failed earlier and later. Mine was over 4K when it went out! If actuator is failing, I highly recommend the City Diesel unit that Genos sells for the same price as City. It's plug and play, and made with better electronic components! Hope you find this info helpful.

FWIW the exhaust brake is far more effective at hi RPM than low engine speeds, so any effect from it is almost unnoticeable below say about 1500 rpm... so maybe run it up against the governor in 3rd or 4th gear and then see if it works..
