Hello Folks, I finally believe I identified and resolved the issue.
I must admit, I'm embarrassed to say what i found.

I made this way too complicated trying to find the worst case issue.
I far as I can tell, despite my best efforts to repair the throttle assemble with the new brass bushings, there is still some play in it and that appears to be the problem. The codes returned so I revisited the throttle assembly and found there is still just enough play to cause havoc.

I finally did the TPS delete with the dash mounted 5K pot.
Worked excellent. By doing the procedure, I was able to confirm the trans is shifting fine and staying in OD when it is supposed to.

Of course, as stated in other threads, I no longer have passing gear with the mod.
This is not an issue for me. With the sluggish diesel and the 3.56 geared axles, I never really had a passing gear that was much useful anyway , so I never passed on two lane roads because the truck never really liked doing that safely. (fast enough).

I have the OD switch on dash to disengage the OD when I do need to climb a hill (which is almost never) or pulling a heavy trailer load which is also almost never.

For those interested, Since I had a couple of the bad TPS sensors in the junk drawing, I cleaned out the "guts" of a bad TPS by removing the potting and the internal pot parts, drilled a cable hole in the end opposite the connector, soldered in my cable, and re-potted to sensor with black silicone. This way, I did not need to rig up wires or cut the factory harness/connector at all. Nice and weatherproof.

The I ran my cable thru the firewall, connected the 5K pot and mounted it to a real nice homemade bracket mounted to the dash by utilizing the existing lower plastic "kneewall" panel screws. That way, I did not have to drill holes in the dash.

I even painted the bracket to sort of match the dash color.
"Looks great, works great, costs less"

I found it very easy to dial in the same shift point the trans would go into overdrive at. Perfect.

I should have done the TPS delete first thing before all the troubleshooting frustration.

Thanks for the various replies to the thread.
