I just got my smarty couple weeks ago and finally gotten around to driving my truck with a catcher loaded. I scanned for DTC's before I loaded a catcher software and there was only 1 the intake air heater (which I removed and put a spacer in instead). Now ever since I loaded a catcher program, even after returning everything to stock, I still get 2 codes contantly. I am wondering if these codes are smarty related or is my (6,000 mile) HRVP44 sick. The codes are:
P0216: Fuel Injector Pump Timing Failure
P0602: ECM Fueling Calibration Error
I am guessing that the ECM fueling calibration error is directly from smarty programming, but the fuel injector pump timing failure worries me a little.
Is it ok to reset these codes, or do I need to get my truck checked out? I am scarred of timing being stuck too aggressive.
Also, the truck has tendancy to die momentarily every once in awhile and then catch itself right away, kinda like a hesitation of some sort. If I give a couple short burps of throttle, the truck hiccups usually on the 3 or 4 blip of the throttle. Also sometimes when I step on the throttle and let go right away, the truck lurches ahead like I put my foot back into it for a second. I thought it might just be getting too much fuel down low, but it does this more on the lower settings than the higher settings. I am guessing that these could be common traits of smarty on 2nd gens. Other than that I am pretty happy with the smarty, but it still feels like it is defueling past 2700rpm; especially when going around 90 mph. The whole reason I bought the smarty was because I heard that they are coming out with a hot catcher that fuels to 4000rpm and totally eliminates defueling 100% and is supposed to be a free upgrade to smarty owners. So smarty guy out there, please, please, please come out with the fueling to 4000rpm catcher soon!! Me and many more 2nd gen smarty owners are eagerly awaiting the promises of new catcher softwares to be released.
