Since I Live local to Geno's Garage I stopped by the wharehouse and spent some $$ on the muffler elimination kit and some other misc. items. I just wanted to give Geno's a thumbs up!! That place is like a candy store.
I do have a question, haws anyone installed this kit? If so please let me know how much more loud it will be. Is there any other draw back to this? I love my Cummins Diesel and I love the noise, any pointers, and notes of what I should expect please let me know... . Thanks in advance.

If you truck has a catalytic converter, it won't be much louder.

Getting the muffler seperated from the exhaust piping can be tough. Most of the clamps were overtightened on the assembly line. No way can you unclamp and pull apart pipes. You will probabaly need to get the Connections RED HOT before they will come apart.

I second Bill's comments. Since I didn't have a torch, I used my Dremel grinder to cut slots in the outside pipe to separate them.

So you think I sgould remove the cat as well? Its going to be a straight pipe from the resonater. Is the resonator behind the cat?

From what I understand, the resonator replaced the cats on the newer trucks. I think from 98 on up but not sure about that. I'm running straight from the turbo to the tailpipe and love the sound. try it.
On a side note, I took my truck to a muffler shop and had replace the pipe on my truck, only cost $40 and I didn't have to fight the old stuff getting it off. They even supply the pipe.
BTW, Welcome to the TDR

Curtis, you lucked out finding a shop to remove the cat, most won't do it for fear of losing their certification.
I replaced a cat just yesterday on a friend's '97 with a test pipe from Dodge(courtesy of rednut, thanks Eric). This was the seventh one I've done,it was also the hardest. Normally I would heat the cat ends red then just wiggle it off,not this one. I ended up hooking a come-a-long between the muffler and the rear axle to pull with after the forward cat end was red hot while beating on the cat with a hand sledge, finally popped off. The end of the cat that goes to the muffler then came off easy after heating, this end has always been easier because the muffler inlet is slotted. New pipe slipped right in with just a little tapping. While idling the truck afterwards, the sound was different, but not louder. My friend called after driving 16 miles home and said the only difference he noticed was that his EGTs dropped much faster before shut down than before, sound seemed the same while driving. The job only took 1½ hours from start to finish, even with complications.

ifflem is right I have been driving and begging, clling shops to remove my CAT and no one will do it. I came up with the exscuse that my EGT readings were red hot and I NEED to remove or gut it. I don't have the tools not the kow how so I am screwed. Anyone in GA. have a shop that'll do it?
