Got a 06 2500 4WD with 31K on it. Great vehicle so far but it has lost it ability to 'track' down the hwy. In other words, when you let go or let up on steering input to the steering wheel it stays where you put it. When you are coming out of a turn it will not try to self center. I'm thinking tight ball joints or perhaps a bad steering damper. I have checked all of the front end components for damage or wear and all looks fine. Any suggestion?

I had the same problem with mine about a year ago with similar mileage on it. When coming out of a turn it would not return to center, and would require cranking the wheel back straight. Since I had the 5 year, 75,000 miles of freedom warranty, I had the dealer make the repair. Turns out the steering gear box was trashed, and the technician said he was surprised that I could still drive it. I only have about 50K on it now as I only use this truck as a weekend hauler, and tow rig for my 5er about 8-10 time a year, but it has been fine since the steering gear was replaced.
