Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Timing cover gasket

I would like some input as to which timing cover gasket is the best to buy, my truck is leaking oil pretty good and I had the gasket replaced about 1 year ago by some clowns, it stopped for a few months now its dripping again, the truck never leaked a drop when I first bought it, I'm sure they put a run of the mill OEM gasket, my Chiltons calls for 18lbs. of torque' on the nuts, I guess I could double check those before I pay to have it done again

I replaced mine in January with one from Genos garage. It seemed to be of very good quality. It can be ordered from here. www.genosgarage.com. Mine had basically disintegrated from age.

Is it leaking from around the gasket or the crank oil seal?

The seal and gasket are very easy to replace. A couple of hours and some basic hand tools and she'll be good to go.

Spent some time cleaning up the d/s engine comp. and oil pan area. Try to do a good job because it might be the v/p p/s which is leaking. Start it up and look for leaks in those areas. Oil leaks are sort of like a roof leaking, dripping in one area but actual leak is in another. Fan air, wind and gravity while driving will make the oil migrate to another area.

I don't even bother with gaskets for stuff like that any more, I just shoot a little Right Stuff on there and bolt it down, no leak issues and its fast easy and cheap.

Get the timing cover gasket from Geno's Garage. When you remove the timing cover you will need to replace the front crank seal anyways so pick one of those up at Geno's too. And if you haven't already, while your their fix that KDP. Isn't too hard of a job. Check your vacuum pump or oil pan too to make sure those aren't leaking oil and not your front timing cover gasket.

I agree that stuff is amazing! I use it on diff covers and never leaks.

Grey or blue RTV is what I use, never had leaks from the cover.
