Hello All...

Posted this in the First time owners thread but no answers.

Bought an 06 2500 about a month ago. Prior owner had installed an after market radio, ( which was crap), and fog light needed to be repaired. After repairs I noticed all check lights on, odometer not working nor was the cruise control. Taking it to the shop they informed me the TIPM went out. I had hoped it was the speed sensor but the shop man said no. So how was I to know otherwise? Anyway, $1100 bucks later I drove it home.

I have the OLD TIPM. Is it worth anything? Can it be repaired?

Oh, forgot. I had a gooseneck hitch and trailer light hook up put in. The guys doing it said they had received a notification from Dodge that the hookup must be done right or it would fry the control module. This was done BEFORE the radio repair about a week later.

So... . can anyone advise if there is a way to wire or rewire stuff on this truck without having to add on $1100 bucks each time for a new TIPM?

Thanks.

Randy

you can add stuff to the truck all day long as long as it is wired correctly. the issue is that there are no fuses in the harness for trailer lights and if you hook up to a mis wired trailer or the added wiring in the truck is wrong it will mess up the TIPM.

Thanks for the reply. So is there an easy answer? How do you determine a mis-wired trailer and how do you hook it up to the truck?

I would take a seperate 12volt battery with an amp meter and independently power each set of lights on the trailer and see what the current draw is to determine if you have a problem

Sounds a bit high. What PN did they install? I looked up 2006 and there were two modules listed and both had retail price of $675. 00
