I have a 2005 4X2 DRW quad that the front tires are wearing more on the inside edge of the front tires than on the rest of the tire. I carried the truck to the dealer and they checked the front end. The front end is tight with no slack. The dealer does not do front-end alignments and recommended that I take it to someone and have it aligned. The truck drives great, but the tire wear pattern is not right.

I have checked the toe-in and there is 0 toe-in. Can the Camber be adjusted on the 2005 models? I am thinking my camber is set slightly negative.

TIA

As far as I know, there's no camber adjustment on these front ends unless you install adjustable ball joints.

The front end is tight, but is it pointed the correct way? I mean, did you take it to an alignment shop?

3 out of 3 of these trucks ive owned (2nd and 3rd gen) have cupped front tire edges but all were 4x4

im not a tire rotater kinda guy but they tell me that evens em out not sure on a 2x4 but 4x4 like ryan said ya need adjustable ball joints and the alignment shop to install and get em right while on the rack (probablly big labor$$$$$$$)

Alignment shop appointment tomorrow.

Thanks guys. I have an appointment with a front-end shop tomorrow. The dealer says that the camber is adjustable from the factory. This particular dealer sends all alignment work out to independant shops.

I have heard several horror stories about the adjustable ball joints, so I am scared to go that route.

I am not a front-end guy, but I did check the toe-in and it is set dead on with now toe-in or toe-out. Just looking at the front wheels, it looks like the camber may be negative, so I am hoping the dealer is right and the camber can be adjusted and I can get the shop to set it a little positive and put just a little toe-in in it while they are at it.

Guess we will see what the front-end shop has to say. Wish me luck.

toe is independent for each side(dont know how that works) but last align i had the tech showed me not sure on spec but i believe its a slight toe in pretty tough to measure 32nds with marks/lines and a tape

good luck at the shop hope somthing is off and hope they let you watch/learn and verify settings

There is a reccommended toe-in, I believe of 1/16th. If your tires are wearing only on the inside, then it is towed out, and needs adjustment..... A competent shop should fix you up.

Alignment complete.

Went to the shop and they did a computerized front end alignment with me watching and learning. My truck does have adjustable camber! This is a good thing in my book. The camber was negative on both left and right. He set it so that the camber is now slightly positive which is what I told him I wanted. He also set the toe in after the camber adjustment, because it was out as well.

It drives better and we will see what that does for the tire wear. I think we fixed the problem and I found a front end shop. :)

No. The front end is stock except for two new tie rod ends installed about 15K - 25K miles ago. Did get the moog tie rod ends that are greasable like the originals should have been! Camber is adjustable on this truck in factory form.
