I am getting ready to buy a new set of 265/70/17 E tires for my pickup. Sam's had a set of the Rugged trail tires the other day for $670. 00 mounted and balanced. the question I have is the warranty the same and the tire the same as rugged trails that come from a B. F. Goodrich dealer? The reason I ask, is that I bought a set of Goodyears for my wife's car at sam's and one of them got a big knot on it, so I stopped at a goodyear store to have it warranted. /They told me that the serial number showed it came from Sam's and it could only be warrented at Sam's because it was a cheapend model of the same goodyear tire only made for Sam's. I have been trying to find out if the same crap applies on the goodrich rugged trail, but the %itch at the service desk will not let me talk to the the manager of our Sam's and the guys in the tire dept are the same one's who install them and don't know crap. I just don't want some oddball P. O. S. tire that goes to crap that I can't get warranted on the road like those Junk Sam's Goodyears. (I took off that set of junk and replaced them with another set from a reputable dealer even though they cost me $175. 00 more). ANYBODY have any idea? By the way, The web search on the tires in stock at our Sam;s only lists Goodyears and Dunlops for $800+ to $1,016. 00 per set. No wonder the economy is a mess, nobody can give a straight answer and i guess managment is in the hot tub or golf course. :-{}#@$%!

I had an after the sale service issue at Sam's a few years ago. I e-mailed Sam's Club and complained about it. The next day the store manager called me at home. You could try that method of voicing your concerns. Good Luck.

Sams, BJ's, and Walmart They have brought to us the EXCUSE to sell DEFECTIVE and CUT RATE BLEM products packaged in the same packaging as their correctly made bretheren that had the quality we have come to know. Why on earth do you think they are such great prices? HINT: (It isn't their touted "We buy in such quantity we can sell it for less to the consumer")



You want QUALITY find a QUALITY DEALER ... ... ... . If any are left in your town because wally put them out of buisness. A true dealer selling a quality product also won't sell you a cheapened version because they KNOW they will loose money in the long run when you have a problem and they have to honor their work.

I have had sams tires the BFG rugged trail ta and have used them since about 120,000 miles . I have never had a problem with them and now have over 500,000 miles on my truck. Have had excellent service out of the tires... and have never been in a place where I couldn't get a sams service. just my 2 cents

dseabaugh, I've had excellent experiences getting tires on-line. I've purchased two sets of Nittos for my truck (305/70/16 "E"), 1 set of Pirellie Scorpions for my wife's 01 Volvo XC-70 and 1 set of Dunlop, SP-2000's for my wife's Miata that we no longer have. Then I'd have them installed at a "reputable installation shop" of my choice. The shipping (last time I purchased tires at least) was included in the cost.



Here's a few options for you to consider. Now, since I've been fortunate enough not to have any problems with any of my tires I haven't had to explore the warranties. However, I remember (at least with the Pirellie's) there was a registration card from Priellie to register them on-line included when I received them. I just dont remember if there was with the Nittos. Wherher or not the "on-line" tires are lesser quality, such as the X-Mart ones, I do not know - just know I've never had issue with any of my on-line tire purchases.

Oh, there are several of the X-Marts in my area as well and although I'm a member of the "Club" I wouldn't purchase tires there - the Techs that usually work in these places are - well - most often of the same quality as the products sold. No offense intended to any Tech out there - just like anything else there's plenty of good and bad . . .

This tire buying is unbelievable. Wasted the entire day an still no tires. Every "independent dealer " I called had tires. I would drive there and the 'in stock" would be at a warehouse 120 -200 miles away. I would have to order them. no tires in stock other than summits and other off brand cheap junk. Came home and got hold of Sam;s manager. He swore up and down the tires are the exact same tires sold anywhere and the only reason they have to be warrented at Sam's is because they have free road hazard on all tires they sell. Got on their web site, typed in the zip code of our Sam's to see what was in stock and went to get them. NO TIRES. The web site is a "separate entity company" and only lists what tires are available for order and "delivery" to the local store in 7 days. They did not have one single 265/70/17 E tire in the store. have to order them. Makes me wish I hadn't sold my tire changer so I could order tires on the net. Really pisses me off to waste the entire day being lied to about tires. Really hacks me off that the same set of tires varies in price as much as $400. 00 depending where you go and they are all $100. 00 per tire higher in price than the price listed in this month's Consumer Reports for the same size tire. many tires are not available in E load. /several dealers only had 1, 2, or 3 of a tire and told me they couldn't guarantee that the additional tires they would have to order to make a a set would match due to variations in the mold. One guy that had 22 in the warehouse that actually had NONE when I got there showed me 2 used tires that had different on the ground tread widths even though the same brand and model tires, because they came from different molds. I will take offers for my 2004 17" steel chrome rims that I was going to put on the truck. I have had it with tire dealers after today. I can get one more year before bald out of the tires on my truck if I rotate them . Looks like there is room for a sears and Monkey wards catalog store again since nobody has anything in stock any more. * stores today and to get a decent name brand tire ( no summit, no timberlines) I would have to order them from any of them unless I put on a load range C.

using the links provided, the Rugged Trail tires were $757. 00 delivered from tire rack and I would still have to have them mounted and balanced. They were $844. oo mounted, balanced and tax from a local dealer if I ordered them. The Rugged trail was the lowest priced tire I looked at. Seems to me there should be more savings than this on mail order tires. Yokahama geolanders would have cost me $1052. plus mounting and tax if i ordered them lo:-{}:-{}cally.

Called Discount tire direct & was told the the Yokohama Geolanders are on a 6-8 week back order. they have the Goodrich Rugged trail in stock with free ship for 169. 00 each, but it is rated # 19 out of 20 tires by Consumer reports. the Yokahama was rated 2.

already called Pro comp. they were $946. 00 a set delivered and on nation wide back order in load range E just like the Yokahamas. 6-8 weeks for delivery. did have one location that had 2 tires but still 8 days for delivery on just 2. I guess this country is so screwed up, nobody can afford to stock anything any more and it costs too much to order a container load of foreign made crap tires since they have moved the foctories over seas. I REFUSE to take just what I can get in some low quality cheapened up tire. We need to move all the beef production overseas and then tell all the CEO's of the factories that moved overseas that their steak now costs 4x the price and they will have to order it by the container load if they want beef with all orders placed 10-12 weeks before you want your frozen foreign steak delivered.

ordered a set of Pirelli Scorpion ATR's from Treaddepot.com and got a message back from them that they cannot process this tire order either. No wonder the economy is down the tubes. The USA is out of business!

I was very happy with my experience at America's tire. I showed em my list, they didn't carry one brand, I didnt' expect them to have what I wanted in stock and they didnt, but only took two days to have them shipped up. They never ever tried to sell me anything other than what was on my list. Pricing was competitive.



My advice is do your research ahead of time. Then when you go in you aren't asking their advice, just whether they can get what you want and how much.

I've had good service also from 4 wheel parts.



However, the Pro Comp All Terrain suck, in my opinion. I bought 4 get 1 free (5) and only got 24,000 miles out of the 5 tires. I watch my tire pressure, rotate ~ 5-6,000 miles, no trailers, no steering issues, no cupping. Totally flat wear across the treads. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. #@$%!

Let's please put something to bed. BFGoodrich does not make a cheaper version of there tires for Sam's and Walmart. They are the same BfG tires you would get anywhere else. My wife works at BfGoodrich and they do not do that. They also have not sold blems(even cosmetic) in years due to liability and quality control. Tires that are defective in any way are destroyed and recycled. They don't even offer them to the employees anymore. The reason for the lower prices for Sam's and Walmart is that they are the #1 and #2 volume retailers of BFG tires. They buy in such large numbers that no independant retailer can negotiate such pricing. If you have a warranty issue with a dealer simply contact BFGoodrich. Dealers who tell you the tires are different are not trustworthy and should be avoided. BFG actually suggests employees buy from Sam's to save money and give's memberships to employees.



As for doing business with Walmart and Sam's, good luck. Both our local Walmarts are staffed with people who don't even know what a load rating is. The Sam's is somewhat better as they do employ a few ex-BFG employees, but I have yet to do any business with them.



It should also be noted that current availability issues may also be attributed to production issues. The recent oil issues have affected availibility of the petroleum byproducts that are used in tire production. The local plant was recently shut down for 2 weeks because of the shortage.

I buy my tires from SAM's too and have never had any service problems that weren't resolved. One time they didn't get my lugs torqued up and I had a wheel nearly come off after about 500 miles. The holes on the wheel were ovaled so I called SAM'S and demanded a new wheel. I got the run around for a little while but ended up dealing with the assisstant manager who was great. He told me to buy the wheel and bring him all receipts; I did and he refunded me in full. Has anyone ever priced a steel dually wheel from the dealer? WOW! Anyway I'm not a bit afraid of SAM's tires or service. Screwballs work everywhere including "reputable tire stores. " As for the quality of the tires they have always prorated mine so well that I couldn't afford to buy anywhere else. Just my personal opinion.
