Geez!

Well ok I will post, I am middle of the road on this subject. I am all for bikes and bije riders for what ever reason chosen to ride, but here in CA we do have a huge problem with cyclist who do think that the entire road is theirs and nobody elses; in this scenario yes you will be smoked, I have actually been patient behind a bike pack that had plenty of room to let traffic around and actually flipped me off, well that would qualify as a mistake and you will be a little more of a shade of grey. On the other hand I have had cyclist who have put their arm out to merger or turn and I am very prompt to slow up let them in and do what they need to in that scenario they were respectful of traffic and totally deserver for me to show them respect. The comment a few pages back about a gun being carried; I will use the same answer as if it were somone in a car with a gun (which in CA has become a major cause of highway murders) YOU SHOOT AT ME, YOU WILL FIND OUT WHAT HAPPENS WHEN AN 8K TRUCK FEELS LIKE UP YOU *****... I am not going to play with my life and if I am shot at you are taking yours into your own hands so you beeter be good aim... And for the office who said he would do what ever it took to get someone to walk that is fine that is your position and your job, and that is what court is for... I am of the belief like many on here have stated be respectful on the road and you shall recieve respect, you be an idiot well you will either get smoked or I will just cal the CHP and let them deal with you.

On that note, I was involved in a Road rage incedent a couple of years ago he was stoned and for absolutly no reason decided to play chicken with my 01 truck, I was on the phone the entire time with the CHP trying to dodge a Toyota Cellica at over 115 for a prolonged amount of time; fortunatly for me the officers were able to meet me where requested and the cellica did not keep up after 100 but was finally found... I told my passenger to buckle up because if we touched and I was behind him he would be meeting his new friend the Telephone pole; I told the officer that and well he agreed once your life is being threatened all bets are off, but you have to strike first I won't... .

I never give anyone a reason to smoke me. So if I ever do get smoked while on my HD, there will be a serious problem for someone.

A little help- my bass boat IS diesel powered. Can I smoke a kayaker? Or only ones the ride 4 wide?

Oops. . just remembered I had to post intelligently.

Intelligence tells me to get my bike & my butt off the road when a car or truck is flying up behind me.

I have a 97 SeaDoo Speedster with twin Rotax 85's. It can choke ya if you catch a tailwind at slow speeds, and as ashamed as it may make me feel, I went Bass fishing in it once. But hey, it drafts only 6" and you can paddle it home in a crunch... who could blame me?;)

I think all the tree huggers should drive mopeds and get out of our way!!

I try to smoke at least two people per day, I mean, it's kinda my job to teach them the unspoken rules as it were. Truthfully we PROBABLY..... shouldn't smoke anyone, but sometimes it sure is hard not to it's so dang fun, I feel like I'm still 12 years old... ... with a drivers licence. :)

Cyclists in general

Just love subject. I love it when they swearve out into traffic and try not to get runover! Or the parent is out with the Kid and they are wanting to cycle across the sidewalk instead of walking. Just another speed bump in life. Or they are at a sidewalk and wanting to go through as if they were a padestrian ! Na they also can be a speed bump or get off and walk the way they should. There used to be one in Victoria years ago that would go down the one hill in front of ??Woodwards store and cross through the cross traffic how he never ( or at least I never saw) got run over is beyond me. DUMB DUMB . This is what cought my attention years ago on this subject.

I have to pass bikes on twisty back roads almost every day. When one really pisses me off blocking traffic for miles I try to behave myself and not smoke them out. I just figure some other speeding motorist that is drinking coffee while talking on the phone will take care of the problem for me! :-laf Seriously though, This spring I participated in a benefit 5 mile walk for Cystic Fibrosis. We had about 400 participants of all ages, and several in wheelchairs. It was held in a state park on a shared walking/ biking path. By the end of the walk just about everyone in our group wanted to kill half of the bikers we encountered. They would curse at us for blocking the path. They would yell at 78 year old grand parents who were pushing their grandaugter in a wheel chair. It was not all the bikers but it was not just one either. I would say 25% were totaly rude. It seem the more spandex they wear, the more jerk they become. :-laf

To those of you who ride bicycles to the left of the white line on narrow canyon highways, be prepared for the 3rd to 5th shift. You don't like it, get to the right of the line or take one of the thousands of miles of bike paths paid for by me, the taxpayer.

To those of you who smoke cigarettes and toss'em out the window, be prepared for a very slow passing... . and a 3rd to 5th shift.

Don't like my opinion? Kiss my bass. :D

I could not have said it better!!!

I wish they would wear softer helments. Those hard ones sure do a number on mirrors. Both my Fords stainless ones are dented up pretty good. The good news about the ones on the Doddge is they fold in.

I about wanted to run over a cyclists last week that cut in front of me while driving thru Fred Meyers parking lot. He came out from a row of cars & didn't stop. I nearly clipped him, I stabbed my brakes so I wouldn't. I laid into the horn once I was stopped and he turned back to give me the finger. Yeah buddy, keep that up and someone not paying attention will hit you and put you into the local ICU. You have the same rules as a vehicle and STOPPING is a big one! If the rules set forth to keep everyone safe isn't worth enough to heed maybe this will. When all else fails, right of way thru size. (I'm not advocating that since I weigh 9K lbs I should have the right of way regaurdless, I'm talking about the right of way in the world of physics. )

As for the member that says he carries a firearm for people that smoke him or such you need to grow up. We aren't in grade school where you make threats anymore. Even though I don't like lawyers much if you were to shoot someone because of a smoking or something you felt was a threat to your well being a good lawyer could find that statement and turn what you did into premeditation. Anyways lots of people carry firearms not just people on bikes.

One final note. I ride a bike from time to time. I also know the rules regaurding biking on the road. I also give them the room they need and treat them with respect even if they aren't willing to do the same. Its easier for me to take a little more time to get around some cyclists that won't move over rather than hit them. A lot less paperwork that way.

I'm sure if you read thru this thread in it's entirty you all remember ol' Wade Patton from page two, who brought the hand gun packing bicyclists to light with the possibility of a sawed off 12 gauge. I'm not going to post my personal thoughts on the smoking thing because of other reason's but I can't help but get a chuckle out Wade's sig (WHEN IN DOUBT SMOKE'EM OUT) but yet he is so quick to start pullin' a pea shooter on all who may have been in DOUBT.

The key is to leave enough smoke so that the "armed" cyclist can not see his handlebars, let alone aim a pistol! :D :-laf

Did that last weekend. Came around a curve and had to slow down for a damn cycler. Was in the cam plateless, stacked, very smoky '96 and somehow forgot to downshift out of 5th gear even though I had the clutch already depressed as I passed the cycler. He definately disappeared in a VERY large cloud. Could not have seen where to shoot if he had a gun. Heck, I don't see how he could see the friggin road!

I don't usually smoke like that for the heck of it, but this arsehole was dangerous... weaving all over the road n a rural narrow curvy two-lane. Maybe after getting black lung, he will consider riding that thing on the MILES of bicycle paths one county away!
