something new

They replace your rubber contact points on your leaf springs so that you don't have to put as much air in your ride rites.

Is anyone out there using these? Do they work? How much, is it worth it, or shouod you go Air Bags? PJ

I too want to hear how they work under a heavy high center of gravity load like a large slide-in truck camper. It's my understanding that they are to be used in combination with air bags. Super Springs makes a similar product and they specify "to be used in combination with air bags".

I have a set of Energy Suspension overload spring bump stop extensions on my truck; however, according to Energy Suspension, they aren't designed to used in this manner. I think the Torquelift Stable Loads would do a better job, but would like to hear from a user before buying and installing a set.

They are just a bigger bumpstop. I did the same thing to my '03 using 3 1/2" bumpstops from Rocky Mountain Suspension. Probably should have gone with 4" though. It adds a lot more stability when you use airbags to level your truck loaded with a heavy camper. The overloads don't contact the stock bumpstops so there is a lot of sway. Extending the bumpstops gives it four points of contact. I paid around $75 for four bumpstops. I think Torklift is asking $125 or so for their version. Nothing wrong with Torklift products. Heck, I'll be down there in a few days to have them put the tiedowns and superhitch on my new dually. Will probably just get the Stable Loads too. It's good to support local businesses.

Thx for the info here too... yes it is good to support local business... too bad I didn't do it before I left.

Below is a quote from another fourm, which is good input for all of us. THX PJ

"As noted in another reply/post, you don't need airbags to add these. I have a Fox 1150 on a 2008 F450, and added the Stable Loads to level the rear a bit-- the SLs are higher/bigger than the factory bushings so the secondary spring picks up earlier as the camper weight is loaded. On the F450 with 14. 5K GCVW, even with a 5K camper, I'm far from the suspension stops-- but the SLs did raise the rear about an inch when I'm loaded for a long trip.

I did the installation in my driveway-- cut the factory rubber bushings off with a utility knife, bolted on the SLs-- a no-drill installation as advertised, about an hour (it as cold and miserable weather). They work as advertised as near as I can tell-- at least I'm level, have minimal sway, and don't porpoise when I hit bumps. With my just-departed Silverado 3500 DRW my seatbelt would lock up on some of the same roads. I tried the SLs as a first alternative to adding airbags for leveling-- turns out for this truck they're all I need. "

I made a set for my truck with 4 pieces of box tube. Drill a hole in 2 sides, bolt on your factory bump stop, bolt the box tube to the frame, TA DA!! Done. Works FANTASTIC.

I got the Stable Loads installed in Fort Myers, FL and now I am in Denver. They seem to have helped a great deal with the side to side motion as they are in contact with the helpers when the camper is on board. So the units work right away. Too bad I cannot get a Roadmaster anti sway bar for my truck as I think that would resolve the rest of the issues, where airbags just make things stiffer.

If you are thinking of these go for it! I like the result... I don't have airbags.
