torque plate swap

Have any of you guys out there gone from a #8 torque plate straight down to a #5? If so I would like to know how it is (meaning seat of the pants feel). Is there a big difference or only slight?

If you have a five speed the #5 plate will work fine. If it's a stock auto you may want to use a #6 instead.
