Merry Christmas

Who is towing with a 3.73 dif, but would like a 4.10?

Why would Dodge build a truck without the 7 pin wiring harness for electric breaks? This truck has the 10K hitch and 4 pin harness. (05 Laramie 3500 HD 325/610 48RE SRW LWB 4:10). I bought the truck used with 20K. I could not pass up the deal. It replaced a 250 Ford V10 3:73's.

I researched the trailer tow package info and came up with, the Laramie comes incomplete?? I bought a Mopar add on harness. It utilizes the 4 pin connector and connects to the left rear light circuit (I do not like this). I tow a 5 ton equipment trailer and a 312 Ameri-Camp. I use the Equalizer hitch. Both trailers over taxed the Ford. All vehicles coming at me after dark hated the lights in the eye stuff.

Is the harness add on the right way to go?

I love the truck. It is all I hoped it would be and more!

Because the sales manager or whoever orders trucks at the original sellling dealer ordered it without.

Kelly,

The Mopar add on kit is what you want. It has the running light relay built into it so the trailer lights won't overload the headlight switch. I put one on my 96 a few years ago. My only complaint is that the weatherpak connector on back of the 7 pin socket leaked in some road water and the power pin disintegrated. I just cut it off and replaced with a Hoppy from Wally World. You just have to run the blue wire into the cab to connect to the brake controller.

Mine did not use the 4 pin connector, it just plugged into the left light wiring. I left the 4 pin stuff in place for my utility trailer.
