Suggestions for 5th wheel hitch

Of course I am NOT surprised at all that Les Scwhab failed to pick this up…wonder if they are going to try to collect on the free replacements?? LOL

seafish; Well THAT explains it…OP should be able to get at least FOUR replacements said:
Yes, it sounds like it. I just got off the phone with my son who is helping me with this tire issue and the truck damage and he said the tire dealer I bought the Michelins from will now give me credit for 4 new Toyo's. I will pay the difference of $144. They have been a big help (Discount Tire). They are not a primary Toyo dealer so they did not get the recall notice.

Woohoo, looking good:D

The safety recall for the affected Nitto tires ended March 1, I dont see a date on the Toyo site so hopefully they dont sweep you under the rug on this.

Glad all is well, Nick. A front blow out with a loaded truck is a real eye opener.

Thanks JR, actually it didn't blow out, just lost the complete tread. It was worse than any flat I have ever had. When the tread finally flew off I had complete control again and when I got stopped the tire was still full of air. I had to sneak up on it :-laf to let some out before I changed it.....

Good news! Is Toyo going to do anything for the damage to the truck?

I think Toyo's are made in Japan.

Nick

They're made in Japan and in the southeast USA. Toyo stopped making them in China.
I had total tread separation on some Bridgestone's. $3.3k damage in seconds.
Bridgestone wouldn't accept photos. They insisted on receipts. I couldn't find them and the shop went broke.
They were D rated, however, and AAA fixed the truck. I lucked out. Toyo E's ever since with no failures. longevity on these AT2's isn't looking that great.

So, for $144 I ended up with a new set of Michelins, 285/75Rx16E, LTX M/S2, 70k mile tire. My son runs them on his dually and only gets 30k miles out of them, he tows heavy and has a lot of power. So if I can get at least 40k, with the pro rated warranty Michelin should keep me in new tires now for about $600 a set v/s $960:-laf

Insurance paid for the damage, I did not talk to them about Toyo covering the truck damage. I figure credit for 4 new tires was fine.

I've been running LTX M/S2s on my 99 2500 4wd, get around 60k miles (mostly light highway use.) My 2012.... that came with Firestones, it'll get a set of the Michelins before winter.

Update: I now have 15k on the new tires, all is well. I tow most of the time so I keep them at 75 psi. Off highway (rare for me) they don't like washboard roads with that air pressure. I just checked the depth and the fronts are at 9/32's on the edge with 10/32's in the center, the rear are at 10/32's all the way across with 1 rotation, they are due again. they started at 11.5/32's so it looks like I will get 60k+:) I am more than satisfied so far.
