Trailer brake controller not functioning - trucks shows that trailer is connected but

The controller is not sending voltage back to the trailer. I can adjust the gain but the gauge on the EVIC shows zero gain being sent to trailer. I tested the output at the plug and there was none. Even with the trailer unhooked the truck EVIC shows it it's still hooked up. Anyone know what's going on? Bad ITBM? This is on a 2013 Ram 2500 Cummins

Sure it is not the other way around? I believe the ITBC will not indicated a disconnected trailer until it has seen a connected one.

Is just he brake circuit faulty? Do the lights on the trailer work normally? Do you have an in bed plug as well as a bumper plug? Have you tested both? Test one while the trailer is plugged into the other if you have the option. If you have an open in the trailer brake circuit I don't think the itbm will show gain on the EVIC.

I've read many posts that are explaining the total opposite of what I am seeing but I am positive that the trailer "hooked up" indicator is still on even though there is no trailer attached.

All lights do work and the 7 way plug is not in the bed and is factory mounted to the bumper area.

I'm open to any suggestions.

The only indicator I have for trailer attached is the brake gain. It's obvious you've tested everything you can. Time to go to the trailer store and have them put the test box on your truck. If it shows no brake signal it's probably the controller. If it shows signal it's an open or short in the trailer.
