My 47RE has about 75K miles since the #ealer rebuilt it and I have had all I can stand of the the sloppy torque converter and shifting into lockup at 55-65 mph depending on how deep the right foot is in the peddle and having to adjust the bands and change the oil after every occassional 300 mile trip at 25,000 GVW. I am putting a lot of miles on it now taking my wife and I to the Dr. in ST Louis, sometimes 2-3 times per week so reliability is a must but cost is also a big issue since I can only work part time now and medical bills are :-{}. . Anyway , I want to know what everyone thinks about the #K47 kit found here Performance Transmission Parts from PATC . I Think I might be able to swing this doing the work myself. Never been into an automatic, but have been through many powershift and gear transmissions plus engines over the last 40 years . At $1574. 00 the price seems reasonable. Any suggestions? If I had my choice I would just plunk down $3500 on a Goerend or ATS , but I think that is more than I can swing $ wise. Does this sound like a good deal? Where can I get a Book on the 47RE?

I have already been running the BD valve body for 9 years. I will continue to try to call the DTT people to see if I can get any info on what they are offering but no luck so far. All they have is a price list on the web link. I have called several installers for Auto trans parts and I just get answering machines and no return calls. Getting old. So far Goerend is the only one that has been able to give me ANY type of answer on what I am looking for as for as Torque converter As well as ATS but at twice the price as the link I listed. Transgo Dealers offer what I am looking for at a similar price as the link but I have not been able to find anyone that can give them a reference. Seems like the ATS and Goerends References come at a $1500 premium. Not Knocking what they offer or their work. I have no doubt they are good, It is just a lot of $$ when there is only so much to go around.

transmission info

Hey this is Stefan, i checked with the office and i dont have any un returend calls so you may want to check the reference number you are calling.

If you are wanting to do the job yourself just a good book that you should have that is pretty reasonable is the ATSG 518 - 618 manual. I can go over it with you if you wish .

That's kinda odd. I've called DTT 3-4 times recently and got someone on the phone each time, always helpful & answer all my questions

Well all the parts in your kit you want to buy looks like great stuff. Have you looked at a Factory Ram Service Manual? Seems like it covers the rebuild pretty good. Stephan also has a manual idea that could be the ticket. I'm in the same boat(or truck) as you and consider the same deal. I'm retired and money doesn't come easily or I would just buy a newer 2003-06 truck and not screw with it all. I toy even with a manual transplant, but it's a lot of screwing around. Let us know what you do. Good luck. Herb
