I just purchased my transmission temp gauge and triple pillar at Schieds on friday and am trying to figure out where to mount it at. I have searched but just want to know if I can any of the three test ports on the passenger side of the transmission for a true reading? If so which one? and also what kind of tems should I see with it in which ever port is usable. Or should I just get the manifold kit from Jannetty? Thanks for any help in advance, Dan.

The middle test port on the transmission only gives good readings on the RH trans used in '94-'96.

Best bet for your '98 is the Janetty kit or an output line from a RH transmission.

Get in touch with Fred and Desert diesel, he has the 95 cooler line that works great and is easy to install, Reads the hot fluid coming from the transmission to the cooler.

Another way would be to put a Mag Hytek pan on and install the sensor in the pre-tapped hole.

I just installed mine a few days ago and it's really a nice pan. I've got a 97 and there isn't a drain plug on it so that was one of the reasons I wanted it.

My temp running empty is slightly higher than 120 degrees. Haven't tried it towing yet.
