I bought a 96 4x4 crew cab w/ V10 for body parts after putting a few unintentional custom wrinkles in my 98. The only thing wrong with the V10 was the transfer case. Is the transmission at all compatible to the cummins 5.9 or not? What about any of the other drive train companents? I hate to just junk what's left if I can use it for spare parts.

Axles will be the same. Do you know what gears are in it? You don't happen to be close to Ohio do you? I know someone looking for a set of 4.10s out of a D60/D70 axle set up.

Don't know off hand and kinda hard for me to get out to look at it for a while. Can't quite see it from here in Saudi. :)

IIRC the V10 and the Cummins shared the same transmisisons. A few differences in the shift points but basically the same unit.

Great. I'll keep it then. Always good to have a spare. I'm afraid after several overheating episodes that the transmisssion in my 98.5 may not last long.

There's a pressure spring that is different, to change shift points, but otherwise it should be the same. If you bolt it in and find that your truck wants to spin up to 4000+ before shifting when you get on it, you'll know why.
