Transmission line temp probe

Hello again. I am back looking for more insight. I am trying to find the best way to put a transmission temp probe into my transmission line? From everything I have read on here that seems to be the smartest spot to put it in and my factory gauge cluster has something wrong with it and my trans temp light flashes intermittently so I have decided it is time to know for sure what temperature the fluid is. When I had my transmission out I decided to get a set of gauges and a 1/2” ID https://powerdrivendiesel.com/product/pdd-transmission-cooler-line-kit/ transmission line upgrade from Power Driven Diesel. I talked with the people there and they told me they normally just put a hole in the pan to put the probe in, but if I can put it in the line I would like to try that. So far this is what I have come up with and it puts the probe just on the edge of the fluid flow and I don’t think will cause any obstructions but I want to know if you all know a better way to do it? Also I believe the front cooler line on the transmission flows to the cooler but I just want to check that?

I’d say the setup in the pic would work but I’d go all brass instead of galvanized. It’s just bulky looking. There are aluminum inline sensor manifolds available at Summit Racing.

As to which line to put it in, feel the two lines at the cooler after a drive. The sensor needs to go in the warmest line.

Okay, thanks. I'll try to get it all in brass and get some thread sealant and hose clamps and hopefully no leaks.

The front line at the transmission goes to the Cooler, the rear one is the return.

And maybe you should replace the temp sensor inside the transmission, it is a known wear item.

I will check that out, I am just not sure if it is deep enough for the probe.

Thank you. I recently had the transmission rebuilt and I believe all the electronics were replaced but I will double check. I believe it is an issue with the cluster because my tach sticks, a majority of the backlights don't work, my speedo is off, and a few other gauges are all the seem to work properly. I have been trying to get it fixed but I don't have another vehicle to drive waiting for the cluster to get rebuilt.

Check ebay for used clusters and exchange, is probably cheaper and easier then a rebuild.

Someone made a unit with hose and the T . Put one on my 04.5 . Just can't remember who. Don't want to obstruct the flow with the sensor blocking the fluid flow. The one Big Papa shows could create problems.
